I'd like to thank everyone that got together at the True Dungeon tavern on Friday night for the Dwarven Forge assembly. That was really quite enjoyable.

Stefan, thanks again for chatting with us, and thank you for the Dungeon Accessories masters! You rock!

Yep! Lots of fun! Was amusing to see Stefan chasing small children in circles. :) Stefan, thanks for the drink and the master sculpts. If only we could have gotten some more secrets on upcoming releases... ;)

Sounds like it was a blast. Sorry I missed it. Next year I'll be there for all four days, so I should be able to attend.

So what secrets did you learn of upcoming releases? "More" secrets implies something was spilled...

In the immortal words of Sergeant Schultz: "I see nothing, I know nothing!"

The truth is, Stefan chatted and talked a lot, but he revealed nothing specific about the future.

Jeff Martin talked a bit as well, and mentioned that Dwarven Forge may drop the pre-orders for future releases. He and DF took some flak over the delays from the Cavernous River and Walls sets, and he'd rather not have that happen again.

I can understand, since there were so many factors involved in which he had absolutely no control. He described it as "the perfect storm," and I think the analogy was apt. But he also mentioned, as has been stated previously, that the pre-orders allowed Dwarven Forge to produce more sets this year than they've ever done before.

I love Dwarven Forge, and I love Master Maze. Anything that would allow them to continue to produce exciting new sets is a good thing in my opinion.

It's definitely off-topic, so I'll probably start another thread to cover it.

I definitely will attend GenCon in 2007, and I look forward to hanging out with Jeff and Stefan again. And Mari and Lori, too!

So Jeff Martin of TrueDungeon also works (and perhaps own or co-own) for DwarvenForge. This is getting interesting. ;)

I'm sad I missed the gathering. Perhaps next year, if I attend GenCon.

As one of the loudest complainers I felt I just had to comment on this. Most of the complaining on the forums, and certainly mine, began after the shipment arrived at the warehouse, and some had started recieving their orders. And most of the frustration was caused by two factors that were not explained:

1) International orders were not shipped in order, but were only shipped on Fridays out of regular order of processing.

2) Some individual pieces that were ment to be in the container were not. So those who ordered them were delayed until the end of the shipping process until those piece arrived by air shipment from China. (If I had known this I would have said no problems, hold my individual pieces over until my lake order and ship with that)

I think mostly customers were understanding over the delays with factory, typhoon, even waiting for train across the USA and we had great communication on these. But when some people started actually getting their sets, and the others who didn't were not aware of the factors above, that's when the problem started. I know some other international countries have delays with customs but here in Australia despite being on the opposite side of the world to almost everywhere else in the 21st Century I have high expectation, I have often (but not always) ordered items from (even east coast) US companies on Friday afternoon here and gotten the merchandise delivered to me at my office before Monday lunchtime.

Hopefully the lesson that Jeff learnt was NOT "Don't do pre-orders, they are too much hassle" but rather "Keep up good communication to customers, especially when some start getting their orders and others haven't yet". My lesson is that I probably should have been emailing more and complaining on forums less. My other factor was thhe one that was delayed was the first Master Maze set I had ordered from DF (I had one set already I got from ebay), so in a sense I was a "new" customer not used to dealing with the company, on the other side of the world, I had paid a lot of money too well in advance. But I would certainly have no issue pre-ordering again.
