Bear Trap - WELCOME!

Yeah, you could say I've pushed a lot of cargo; after that, I pushed patrol cars, and now I push PC keys!
SOME folks here would say I'm a pushy kind o' guy (C'mon, Jeff and others; if you didn't hear THAT one coming, I'll get Sandy's Aunt Evelyn to lend you a hearing aid!).

I may get temporarily banned behind this one, but here goes:
RabidFox got into a verbal fight with AT LEAST one other forum member, over some things that were totally inappropriate ON BOTH PERSONS PARTS to this forum, even though the arguments started over valid gaming topics. As my wife says, "Stuff Happens" (she cleans it up).
Neither one was willing to drop the subject when the Moderator (and yes, it's either Jeff Martin, the one who runs the business side of DF, or his Brother Doug, who keeps this web presence running) told BOTH of them to DROP IT. The objectionable part, for some of us, is that RF got permanently Banned, and the other person is still here - and shouldn't be.
BUT, I don't run this forum; Jeff does, it's HIS business (by law!), and he has the right, the authority, and the power to summarily and permanently dismiss ANY forum member who, IN HIS OPINION, has breached the rules of the Code of Conduct of this forum. If we do not like those rules, we do NOT have to play here.
I generally don't have a problem with those rules, and I don't remember having been banned; if I ever WAS, it wasn't for long, no big deal.

Enough said on this subject, except for one item; SassyOgre, 'Banned' means that you can no longer post to the Dwarven Forge forums, for the term of your banishment. It is the 'one step short of legal action' that all forum owners/operators have available to PROTECT THEMSELVES from any possibility of legal action against their forum. Remember, here in the US, publishing, in any form, derogatory and/or insulting articles that can be construed as injurious to another person's reputation, can be litigated by the injured party. That means that if I call you, here on the forum, a (Expletive Deleted)(Expletive Deleted)(Expletive Deleted)scoundrel, and CAN'T PROVE IT IN COURT, then not just I, but Dwarven Forge as well, can be sued for damages both real and imagined - and for some SERIOUS MONEY!

And THAT, more than ANY OTHER REASON, would have justified Jeff to ban RF*, ME (although he hasn't YET - fingers crossed) and a few OTHER PEOPLE (who should have been but haven't, again, YET).

So it's good that you don't nationally stereotype, hint, hint.

In other news:

Happy Holidays, see ya next year (I Hope!)!

I won't discuss the reasons behind the banning of any single forum member for the sake of that member's privacy. However, I will say that the reasons for that particular banning go far deeper than any single post or thread, and are likely self-evident. Jkratzer, in the exchange you refer to, both parties to the argument were dealt with, and any perceived disparity in their treatment is due to factors outside of that specific argument.

The only forum members who who are summarily banned for a single post or thread are spammers.

I hope this clears things up and (finally) puts the matter to rest. If anyone has any questions or concerns about this or anything else, please feel free to contact me.

OUCH!

Christian, that slammed right into my job; I'm backup NetAdmin on a predominantly WinNT4/2K/2K3 network, and do TONS of M$Access databases; I'm getting into SQL Server2K5 as fast as I can, because that occasional 'RI-I-I-P-P-P!' you hear from south of you is me, tearing the envelope (as in, 'pushing the edge of the envelope')! There's nothing like using a DESKTOP rDBMS as both the client AND the server in a client/server database environment. Thus, I'm digging into SQL 2K5 as fast as I can learn it! Mainly because, as a State government ministry employee, I can't afford the MINIMUM $500K to sit down at the table with Oracle, and I feel about IBM (DB2) the way you feel about M$!
Ah, well; such is life.

Sandy and I are in Baltimore, MD, as it says on my profile. We've been married since 1995, so you have @1 year on us - but this is my third time around, so I probably have that on you (it took me 3 tries to get it right; Sandy says she got it right the first time, I say it's only been 11 years, the jury is still out.). I DO have the advantage of being an old fart - 55 this December, I FINALLY get to order off the seniors' menu at Bob Evans!

Sandy's been playing D&D since early 80's, right after it came out nationwide; she got her nephews into it, which is how I got a full set (AFAIK) of 1st and 2nd editions core rules and earlier expansions. I didn't start until a friend of mine introduced me to DF by way of looking for scenery for GW, which led us to DF, which (after they decided that the passages were too narrow (and these were STANDARD passages!) for their massed rush charges against Space Orks, 'Nids, and Necrons. Which goes to show that they totally missed the idea of URBAN combat, especially INSIDE buildings! And one of them calls himself a Ranger! Oh, well. Right after that was when I decided to give D&D a try, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Sandy is a dyed-in-the-wool Classic Trek Trekker; I can live with ANY of them, even the animated series, but my favorite is Enterprise, closely followed by Voyager. Or, as I've been known to say, I want Kirk as a friend, because he'll risk it all to save a friend; but I want to work for Picard, because he knows that the needs of the many DO outweigh the needs of the few - OR the one! So, what can I say?

Good talking to ya; have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

See ya!

Moderator, I will attempt to be, as YOU put it, less inflammatory.
I will NOT though moderator be less HONEST.
For the sake of your interpretation of the CoC, I will leave it at that with my tongue being heavily bitten.

An update from my first post here in April of 2005:

My name is still Gabriel. Still a serial dater and still going to rock shows.

My DF buying has abated some, plan to get more in '07. My 6 year old campaign finally ended earlier this year and I now am in the middle of a 2 year old campaign. Playing in multiple little one and two shot games but really looking for a DM willing to run long-term campaigns for me to just play in. What a nightmare.

Don't post on 3ebb anymore, but post on some smaller/local boards now. Post on Paizo occasionally also.

Still work at the law firm, do a different job now. I make it so a letter that says:
***********
That sounds great. See you tomorrow.

Sincerely,
John Lawyer, Esq.
Attorney at Law at The Man LLP

disclainmer:
This correspondence is in no way any kind of thing that might get us in trouble and/or sued by anybody other than those able to pay actual attorney fees and make some people a bit of loot. Also, this is not to be considered tax advice because we love the IRS alot. They are cool and really nice. To make this discalimer even more poignant and official, we will also add a few lines about gobbilty guck and other various legalise whereupon the night in question it was motioned to the court and stuff. Ask yourself this though: Why do lawyers always start every sentence with "Clearly... "? It's kind of funny.
*************

can be found 10 years from now. We call it Records Management but others call it "file clerk". One of the highest paid file clerks in Portland, OR though.

My CEO bought me a bottle of Hennessey for Christmas too. It is good stuff.

Other than the 2 actually crazy chicks I dated this year and my cat getting sick this month and costing me $400 so far to fix her up, 2006 was an awesome year. I did and learned quite a bit and look forward to 2007.

...stands up...

...clears voice...

..looks about the room nervously...

"Hi everyone. "

"My name is Aracon."

"I confess that I am also an addict."

"I've been clean of Dwarven Forge purchases for almost 30 hours."

...hands jitter...

"I'm now safe until there is a restock."

...hands jitter...

"Except for some Medeval Building sets."

"And maybe some Den of Evil Wicked Attion sets."

...nervous twitch...

"I've been role playing for three decades, and have a large hoard of stuff."

"I confess that I just can't stop buying ."

...nervous smile...

"My Dwarven Forge items do hold their value against inflation so it is a stable investment..."

...big smile...

"I have to go, I just remembered that I need two more stairway pieces and the stock is getting low!"

I gotta admit, with the title of this thread, I have the urge to say, every time:

"doo-do, do-do-do!"

Having aired that one, in keeping with Aracon's post:

"HI, Aracon!"

DF addict, eh? Well, better than crack, safer than H, longer-lasting highs than LDS (Berkeley and ST4, y'know?), and less legal problems than any of those.
And you usually(!) don't have a hangover the next morning - unless it was a REALLY good last night!

Welcome to the nuthouse, Aracon.

See ya!
