Thanks For the Offer of Support (On the Missing Cards)... Fortunately there are some Great HQ Sites out there so the Original Wording on the Cards is Available to me... And Even Some of the Art Work... There is a Great Site www.aginsinn.com/ Which is by Far my Favorite... There is Even a Computer Application that can Play the GM Role For HQ and pretty Much all of the Original Quests including the US and European Exspansions, I think it's Called HQGM, it is Free to D/L...

There are also Many New Monster Stats, New Spell Cards New PC Races and Uniques Quests... Not to Mention Lots and Lots of New Character Archetypes...

Anyway, if You are Curious about Warhammer Quest Check out Ebay I Know You Can get it there... (I was Unable to Find it on the GW Web-site, Though I Know I Have Seen it in Game Stores Pretty Recently)...

You Mentioned WotC And their Furniture not being as Good as HQ, are you refering to the New D&D Basic Set? I Baught that just to See what was In it, and I was pretty Happy with it... It Comes with 16 miniatures from a few of the Early Painted Plastics, including as Few Orcs, Skeletons a Skeletal Wolf some Dire Rats Etc... Not to Mention some PC's to Support their Beginer Characters... I Also Like the Large Dungeon Tiles that Came with it, But I Really Wish WotC would do some Painted Plastic Furniture of some sort... Are You Thinking maybe of the Wiz Kidz Dungeon Furniture that came out to Support Mage Knight? That was Great Stuff and Cheap... (Others Disagree But I Like it)...

Hi again!

Hehe, I'm afraid I've already "stole" that link from another thread, I think it was you who posted it. :D I visited the web also. Nice site!

I'm not going into HQ right now, but is nice to have that info anyway... you never know!!! Thank you!! ;)

I agree with you, I started to play dungeons with MK, and I've bought several sets of furniture from Wiz Kids. It's just what you say, cheap and beautiful. The traps are great! I liked very much some photos that Invincible Overlord posted of a mage's lair, with the cage from MK Traps. Some day I have to get another set.

What sound GREEAT is the computer program you say! is in the Agin's? Hope have some time to download it!!

I think you are right, we are talking about the basic D&D set. Well, yes, the figures are ok, and all the cards stuff and tiles but... the columns I've seen are made of cardboard that you have to ensemble. I meant it's pretty worst that the furniture that came with the basic HQ (I wasn't expecting something like DF furniture, or MK Dungeons furniture), but I thought that at least it would be as HQ furniture, the tomb, the mage table, libraries, etc... in HQ was made half cardboard and half plastic that you could paint. That was great! I use all of it in my DF games.

Perhaps if in later releases the come out with such things I'll buy it... I saw the first expansion with some sort of "ice barbarian" and dragon, and ice tiles.. etc... some day we will see... :)

Arsthein,

Hey there Again Back At You...<Grin>... I Hope it did Not Seem Like I was Pushing HQ, I Just Get Excited When Some One Else Admits that they Liked the Game as well... <Chuckle>...

I Do Not Know if we Have a Different Basic D&D Boxed Set in the States than You Have in Spain, but Ours Did Not Have ANY Furniture (Or Columns) at all... (Which Would have Been Nice), But Since I Have the Wicked Addition Sets For DF and Three Sets of Each of The WK Dungeon Sets I Have Plenty of Useful Columns any way... To be Honest though, I Really Would Dig it if WotC would Produce some Painted Plastic Accessories to Support the RPG side of the Minis...

There's a Dungeons & Dragons adventure game that came out in Europe that had some fold up/stand up columns and trees and came with it's own miniatures, not DnD Miniatures. As far as I know this was a different game then the Dungeons & Dragons board game released in the US, which had the DnD Miniatures games minis in it.

Here's a link to the entry on Board Game Geek of the European game: Dungeons & Dragons Brettspiel

Here's a link to the US one: Dungeons & Dragons Basic Game

The European game looks really cool and has a couple of expansions. I don't know why they didn't release it in the US, I would buy it in a instant!

Ooooh right!! :D

Thanks Calico, you're right. The game I was tolking about has nothing to do with the basic D&D rpg game with board I think you had got in USA. The game I'm talking about is not RPG, but something similar to HQ but with D&D characters, figurines (of course not of the usual D&D stuff, but some unpainted plastic miniatures).

Yes, it has some cardboard tiles, trees, columns, etc...

MyLordVoid... man!, I didn't feel pushed at all!! :) I got excited too when the HQ gossip started!! :D

Calico Dave,

I Would Definately Like to at least get to Check it out... It Sort of Seems like the Adventure Board Games of the Past have Been Sort of Replaced by War Game oriented Stuff, (Or Card Games)... It is Interesting How Trends Change...

In Any Event I Would Like to See Some Good Yet Simple Board/ Tile Based Adventure/RPG titles come out...

Arsthein,

No Problem on the Mix up, and Good to Hear that we were talking about two different Games... (I Was Feeling a Bit Confused...<Grin>...)...

Hello All, I am another one of the Bills. :) My home life is fairly full with wife, son and daughter (8 mos. and 2.5 yrs), dog, 3 cats, and a sadly underused gaming room. Gainfully employed in environmental work.

I am 36. I have been gaming since 5th grade starting with the Blue box dungeons and dragons. My first character was a fighter named Glendor who adventured with my brother's elf Egnig... I actually have been gaming fairly regularly over time and am currently allowed 2 game days a month, if my wife is in a good mood. Damn leash laws... Have played a variety of games of course with chunks of time devoted to Rolemaster, Gurps, and Shadowrun, but D&D has always been the game of choice.

Other hobbies include board games (AH's Titan is a favorite), some travel, ultimate frisbee (for the past 12 years) and soon swimming lessons for my daughter. Though, I think snow skiing is in her future too, if I am lucky.

Just began collecting DF a couple years ago and have about 15 sets, so I need to revise where they are stored. And also doing some DDM acquisitions for RPG.

Welcome WillOH!!! :D

Hope you can increase the number of gaming days per month soon!!!

I actually play with figures 1 or 2 per month but that's a problem of space... hope in one of this years I can have my own house so the number of days sure increase... and the size of the dungeon!!! Bwahahaha...!!! I roleplay a couple of days more per month.

Anyway, go on!!!

Hi all!!!

I don't post much, but I read the forums whenever I can. I am 25, live in the Chicago area, and have been gaming for about 13 years now. I have been collecting DF for 4 years, and mostly use it for D&D and WH 40K gaming.

All

It was really interesting too read more about so many people who have been posting here. Having joined the board once quite a while ago - but never active - I joined again a few weeks ago and since then have really enjoyed to read through most of the threads - especially the photo section. Having discovered this thread yesterday it took me a day to actually read. But having done this it's time for a posting now.

I'm 39 - born in Germany - a little bit older as the average it seems - but just by a small bit. With two children - a girl age 2 and a boy age 4 I seem to fall into the typical family father category here. I'm married and my wife plays as well.

I met my wife 7 1/2 years ago on the internet on a role playing site where I was a gamemaster. She was there with a friend and a little bit lost - a stray e-mail reached me which wasn't ment for me - and so it started ...

I'm gaming since I can remember. I started with board games. During school it was a lot of risk - as well as other games - a lot only available on the German market. My all time favourite boardgame is Titan from AH which I loved to play with a friend of mine. He got an advantage at start (3 of each base creature, 3 armies to start with).

I played/developed better - but if you know the game, then you know every small advantage counts. I therefore played most the game catch-up - until I could go in the offensive and wipe him out (provided I managed to survive long enough).

Apart of this worth mentioning is probably my stint in more competetive board gaming. For several years (mainly during my study times) I was a core member of 'Die Legionaere' - for a few years the most successful German Board Game team. We won the German championship at least twice and the Intergame (inofficial European Championship) once. Boardgaming mainly stopped when I moved to the UK 10 years ago - you can't fly in and compete without enough training - it's not the same.

Another game category which I'm now playing since 20 years is PBM / Play by Mail (okay - now it's actually PBeM). I started in the first German Starweb game. The German provider didn't own his own computer at that time. Turns were send to him, send by courier to the US, typed in there, printed out on 9dot matrix printers - shipped back by courier to the provider and then send on individually. 3 weeks turn times allowed for people to make their own letter heads and paper - you don't see this any longer in these hasty times ...

Currently I play since a few years Muranien (www.pbem.at/muranien/index.htm) - it is a really nice Fantasy world - but only worth if you want to invest some time.

Btw - my friend who played Titan with me also introduced me to PBM - as well as RPG. It started with some Tunnels & Trolls soloadventures more than 23 (?) years ago. He got them directly from the US. Looking around I found a German mail order company selling D&D. There wasn't a German Roleplaying market at that time - and no German games. You either took the English originals or had to wait for another 3 years.

This forced me to start a translation for my younger brother. I managed half the rule book before I stopped.

At that time there were only 4 of us - Basic D&D was deadly, so in one game that I DMed I allowed 10 characters each for my 3 players. Expectation was that 80% wouldn't survive the first adventure anyhow.

Role playing was on and off over the years. 6 1/2 years we started once again in a group that only recently got killed off in a Rolemaster campaign gamemastered by a dutch colleague. A while later I formed a splinter group - GMing Ars Magica. It wasn't really a success - my group prefers hacking more than role playing. So after a while I unpacked my old 20 year old basic D&D again. After a year of gaming we switched to 3rd edition - and a while later to Forgotten Realms - where still several of the original characters are playing.

We bought our first few sets of DF at the Games Fair Spielertage which is every year and where Stefan was having a stall. We own now nearly all of the old sets apart of the room set and the octagonal room set - but having the 25 diagonal wall set and the Deluxe rom set as well as room and passage means that you own all the individual pieces anyhow.

More about the struggles to order are already in a different thread.

I'm now looking forward to the DOE and hopefully to be able to order directly from this site soon.
