OK, so when I said I was really excited for the water sets, and I couldn't wait to immerse my miniatures in slime, this is NOT what I had in mind....

Our basement flooded today -- tons of water up here in the NE -- and one of the boxes hit the worst was full of painted Lizardmen and mounted knights. And, of course, keeping the minis safe, a nice insulation of foam packing peanuts.

You know what happens to that stuff when the box fills with water?

So now, on top of a bunch of wet figures painted with WATER SOLUBLE acrylic, I have a bunch of minis coated in nasty slime. I have to wash off the slime, but very CAREFULLY so as not to remove the paint.

So far, it seems to work, all that's lost is the nicely flocked base. But who knows what these will be like when they dry -- and how much slime I was able to remove....

UGH. Well, I got my soaked minis. But this is NOT what I wanted. I wanted the Cavernous River set. RESIN water.

I must pray far more specifically in the future.

This ahs been a rough couple of years for gamers; last year, IO and the Florida and Gulf Coast crowds get slammed by Katrina, Rita, and whoever the thrid nasty bitch was, and now YOU get drowned up in New England!

This $h!t has GOT to stop!!!

Condolences, L. That's terrible! I'm glad your losses weren't as bad as they could have been, though.

L, you have my sincerest condolences. As a miniatures painter, I know the pain of damage to your favorite figures. Flooding is one of the most unpleasant things to face, because you usually only discover after it's far too late, and even then you can only watch as it gets worse.

I imagine that flood insurance can help, but try explaining the value of hand-painted miniature figures to a person that thinks of them as "toys." Brother, I feel for you.

Best of luck to you in dealing with it.
