First off, Stephan, if you read this. It was nice to finally meet the guy responsible for my terrain addiction. As I said to you at GenCon, keep up the great work. You and Jeff rock.

For those of you who weren't able to attend GenCon this year, Dwarven Forge had a small space setup to sell their most excellent wares. They had some crazy good deals on individual pieces and both the Sci-Fi and Fantasy sets. I didn't pick up any of the boxed sets as I just pre-ordered 2 of the DoE sets but I did clean up on a bunch of miscellaneous individual pieces (6' long corridor with moat, arrow loop trap walls, wooden ramp with large round boulder -- all three for for $10!!! urns & pots, 2 boxes of sacks & chest, Greek vases, and box of 4 alcoves -- all for $10!!!). The deals were unbelievable.

What I really like was the fact that I saw at least a half-dozen different games being run using DF Fantasy pieces--INCLUDING Wizards of the Coast! Yes--you read that correctly, they were actually running a demo game using DF pieces. I should have investigated a bit more to find out exactly which game it was but they were the largest event producer that I saw using DF pieces. The best thing is that the DF booth was right near one of the main corners of the Wizards display.

GenCon was a blast and I was happy to be able to meet Stephan and continue to support Dwarven Forge.

Great, Dante. Do you have any photos? I should go to the Gen Con site I guess. They should have a galery of some sort. I went to the 1999 GenCon and loved it. I am really going to make an attempt to go Next Year.....2006 GenCon will hopfully see me there. The Year I went I did stop by the DF table but it was a few years before I made the plunge so did not get anything. I knew over the years that if I bought just ONE box. THAT WOULD BE IT!!!! It was.............

whitewind--I do have photos but unfortunately not of the Dwarven Forge booth. It's so silly--I didn't even think to take a pic of Stephan or me standing next to Stephan like any good gamer geek should! ha ha...

With teaching full time and raising my toddler I haven't found the time yet to post the pics but I'll put up a URL when I do!

Hey Dante,

I teach and my first kid is due in... 2 hours (technically, but you know how due dates are). Anyhow, there is gaming after kids?

Thank God!!

Oh, and if you teach an appropriate grade level, are you aware that WOTC is giving out free DnD starter kits to school libraries for after school gaming sessions? I'm thinking of starting a gaming group once a week after school for my high school geeks! I teach history honors so I've got the geeks to make the game go.... but most of them are hooked on computer games.

In fact, the history club I have started is going to have game meetings, historically based games like the Civ Board game or Axis and Allies or even more detailed games. The kids kept asking if various computer games could be played...to which I would point out that I am not buying 15 computers so we can have lan parties.... These kids really have no clue about non PC/Console gaming....

Well..that was a tangent.... but still gaming related... I think I hijacked your thread... so let's see...

What's it like at a real big gaming con? AZ is notably lacking real gaming cons..... copper con is it.
