Here's a photo with a few of the LotR's minis and a Dungeons and Dragons game mini thrown in for comparison. The LotR minis are (L to R) Saruman, Gimli, DDM mini, Frodo w/ One Ring, and Aragorn.

I tried to straighten it but it wouldn't stay up

(... I think I should rephrase that ...)

I tried the hot and cold water method to fix the plastic but the sword kept going back to that shape.

Well you can't very well take the king seriously whilst he's wielding a flaccid sword now can you?

...<Snicker>... I... Oh Never Mind...<EFG>...

As to the Comparative Photos, I Suppose The LOTR Minis Do Look Pretty Detailed... Only Problem is that they would Never Pass for "Generic" Wizards, Dwarves Etc... So Unless You Actually Wanted The Party to Meet up with Gandolf or Similar they Would Only Be Useful in a LOTR Game... That Having Been Said, How do the Orcs and the Like Look?

Here's a pic of the orcs and goblins. The three on the left side are an Orc Archer, Warrior, and Spearman. The two on the left are Moria Goblin Warrior and Archer.

I don't really have many more figs then I've shown. I only bought a started and a few boosters. I think I got pretty lucky to get a Saruman in one of the first packs. I'm not really a big fan of the collectible games, but I do like LotR so I couldn't resist.

Calico Dave,

Thanks For Posting that... I Really Like Those Orcs... They Might Make For Good "Commanders" if they were "Popped" off their Bases...

So Are You Saying that You Do Not Much Like Collectable Miniatures Games, BUT The CMG for LOTR Is Really Good?

OR,

Are You Saying that You Like All Things LOTR so you Thought You'd Give them a Shot Specifically For the Minis'?

Non-sequiter From Hades, here but We Purchased the LOTR Trivial Pursuit Out of Fondness For All things LOTR, it was Suprisingly Challanging (Or I Do Not Remember as Much LOTR Lore As I Think I Do...<Grin>...)...

So Back on Topic.... I Am Guessing that Those Miniatures Caught the Flash, And that they Do Not Really Appear "That" Glossy do they? In any Event the Details Look Pretty Darn Good Compared to WotC?

MyLordVoid,

Your second option is the one: I like all things LotR and thought I'd buy the minis because they looked cool and seem to be quite accurate to the look of the movies.

I haven't played the game, but the rules read like it would play pretty good. (of course, some games read good and play bad and vice versa!)

The minis do seem to be reflecting a bit of the flash, I didn't notice that when I quickly took the picture and posted. Metal looking bits on the minis such as armor and weapons are fairly reflective, while clothing and flesh, for example, have a matte finish and don't reflect much.

I was rather suprised with the amount of detail on the figs. I would guess since they are a little larger then the DnD miniatures that it might be easier to give them more detail.

As To LOTR... I Have to Admit that I Have my Fan-boy Moments... Not Outrageous, but I Do Dig LOTR... (Though Interestingly I Have Stayed away From Most of the Current marketing Hype in Deference to other Hobbies), I Did However Play the "Sucker" On DVD Releases... (Baught the Theatricals AND the Extendeds)...
