Please share what you consider the best music and sound effects you have found for gaming with df in this thread. There have been quite a few kickstarter projects with rpg sound effects produced, if you backed these, let us know which are worth buying. If you have a favorite song, band, cd that you recommend for gaming, please share that as well. Thanks

I've backed two separate Kickstarters that produce soundscapes and fx for gaming...but haven't received the products yet.

That being said, here's a link to my current gaming playlist on YouTube. On it I have collected a small amount of background music: celtic, gothic, magical, suspense, and horror are covered.

Plate mail games has an extensive selection of loops (ten minutes long) and sound effects, plus some background music. He has a huge selection of these from his three KS (The third of which is still being fulfilled). Still, on his site there is a lot of goodness for just about every genre.

He will also do custom tracks and licensing.

The Conan the Barbarian (1982) Soundtrack by Basil Poledouris is pretty good as adventuring music.

When i was 12 my mom came home to the windows vibrating - we were gaming in the basement and had Edvard Grieg's - Peer Gynt blasting at full volume on her stereo... she was not amused ;)

Great piece of music, pretty much the score to a D&D epic saga

Prokofieff's Alexander Nevsky is another awesome bombastic piece of classical battle music

I must of missed something with this site? I clicked on fantasy (I only play D&D/Pathfinder) and it lead me back to the main page? There's no choice for music?

While I haven't built any play lists yet, I have quite a collection of Jeremy Soule's work. He did the score to Elder Scrolls 3, 4, and 5 as well as all of the music for Guild Wars 1 and it's expansions. I typically press
Play and let the night proceed from there.

I've recently had great success with HBO's Vikings soundtracks, season 1 & 2. There are some very evocative tracks that could work for numerous scenes and environments. I'm DMing a Pathfinder campaign at the moment and naturally, it's working exceptionally well as my players navigate the Land of the Linnorm Kings.
