It was confirmed to me that the KS will not have either a tree, fork and yoke for the wagon (due to fears about durability) or any draft horse, ox or lizard.

Hi,

Jonathan here, owner and creator of Tabletop Props. This campaign was relaunched with only the Covered Wagon because of molding costs. To keep the funding goal as low as possible, this piece is all we need to create to ensure backers actually get product in hand.

The Dead Tree is the first stretch goal and will be available shortly after the wagon is funded. This was not a durability issue at all, simply the best means of keeping the minimum funded goal low.

As for beasts of burden, these props are all scaled to work with other 28mm miniatures. I felt that there are plenty of options for creatures in the marketplace. Where we really feel a need is on props. Personally, for my beasts of burden, I use the simple Toob of Horses found at most craft stores. (www.amazon.com/Safari-Ltd-695604-Horses-TOOB/dp/B000BNB0XC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1403285280&sr=8-1&keywords=toob+horses)

With time I hope to have a following that will allow Tabletop Props to release an entire set all at once. But we have to start somewhere. Let's start with the Covered Wagon! Thank you for your support!

Uh, there is an early bird price break until 6/22 at 9 AM.

Also, I do the exact opposite. I frankly HATE early bird pledges, unless they're from a brand new creators. Creators with no track record may need that early bird level to get things going. Johnathon has offered a time-related early bird (better than first X customers) that makes sense and should help juice his campaign into making backers think "Yes! this thing will get funded, and on to stretch goals!"

Established companies that have early bird levels are frankly not that smart. Just because someone sees a campaign before me, they get the items sometimes 15-25% cheaper? That turns me off to campaigns, and makes me say "wait for retail at online discounters" really quickly. For every early bird backer who gets to feel "exclusive", every other potential buyer who sees the campaign afterward (the vast majority) will say "this is kind of lame", whether they pledge or not. Turning off potential buyers or lessening their enthusiasm even a bit is bad for business.

That being said, for this first-time venture, an early bird level is well warranted and looks to be working out well. The discount is not very large and only affects the first wagon, so I think Johnathon made some wise decisions in running this campaign.

I'm in, and wishing Tabletop Props the best of luck!

I'm in for Caravan and maybe much more. Love the interchangeable pieces from one wagon theme to another.

I'm in for 4 wagons currently. Looking forward to seeing the additional alternate paint jobs he's going to be offering.

I have no money for anything for gaming right now, but I sure hope this one funds.

I like the idea of a these wagons.

I am in for a wagon, but it does not look good for funding at this point.

Well this KS failed to fund.

If the guy is going to try the kickstarter route again there are a couple of things I think he should do.

Firstly while the wagon itself was great the first thing anyone that I showed it to said was "where are the horses?" Sticking a couple of toy horses up front doesn't work. Maybe the horses and tackle could be provided as a separate purchasable item.

Secondly a paint job a new wagon does not make. Given the modular design maybe he could have versions of the basic wagon like a coach, a proper gypsy caravan, a Hussite war-wagon, or a solid wheeled dray. Get people to buy multiple wagons.

Also the price for the wagon was too low requiring too many to be sold to fund. No one would begrudge an additional 5-10 dollars for a pre-painted item of that quality.

There are not many good wagons around at 28mm so I hope Jonathan regroups and comes back with a better KS next time.
