What are everyone's thoughts on this? I think they look great, but that $150k goal is SOOOOO high.... :(

I think the guy needs to cancel this project and do one with a lot lower goal. Trying to do a minimum order of 5000 seems awful high.

I backed it for the basic kit - its a nice concept and a wagon would be a cool thing to have at this value.

I agree that the total amount he is after is high but I am willing to throw $30 into the pot. If it gets funded , great! If not, I at least supported the fellow.

If it funds I might add a few more to get a wagon train setup.

not sure How many I might need - 4? 6? have to think about that.

I think the KS campaign will need you and others to think through that 2nd part BEFORE the campaign ends or else there's no way it will make it :-).

I'm like you. I'm in for a wagon set and am not too worried whether it funds or not.

I think if the creator wants to really hit that goal, he needs more bling and needs "stretch goal mania" to take hold to draw in the KS-addicted. Not that any of that interests me, but I've seen many a project succeed with all the SG stuff going on, even when the main product itself is underwhelming. The current start is not exactly trending to 150K, so he needs to get something going.

As for Keeblerorc's observation "I think its a great way to feel out the market.... I don't see it funding but....."

Isn't there some cost to the creator associated with a failed Kickstarter?
Depending on how much that cost is, the "market research" may or may not be worth it... if the cost is cheap, I agree with Keeblerorc 100%.

There is no cost for failed Kickstarters. So it's free market research and helps establish an initial mailing list for future projects. That said, it's even better to just structure your KS for success the first time around. The way this campaign is set up, he's going to need a LOT of backers (3000+) just to fund. That's not much less than the number of backers for the recent DF campaign which as run by a well established company with a long history of delighting its fans. I wish him luck and will back this one, but like others worry that he reached too high for his first go at this.

Thanks for that info. Didn't know kickstarter was an even better deal for aspiring creators than I thought.

Looking more closely at his pledge tiers, seems like he really didn't do his homework reading KS guides or tips to successful campaigns.

He seems to be trying to steer people to the 45$ pledge level to get the added cart, but even if that fills to its full 1000 backers, that's still less than 1/3 of his goal! If the 30$ early bird spots sell out, that's only another 9,000, leaving the bulk of the funding dependent on people ordering at the 35$ level or people ordering multiple sets.

The "I want it all" level baffles me a bit too. You can get an extremely cool large wagon and many other props for 30-35$, but then have to pony up 40-45$ for those rock and lake tile pieces? Maybe that's a good deal for those type of pieces, but it doesn't seem especially enticing-- the pledge $ is higher, but that tier does not even get the cart.

Like the rest of you, I hope it will all work out and this campaign will catch fire, but I sense this will need a restart with some fresh thinking.

First thing I noticed was that the wagon lacks a yoke and there is no horse.

If I was going to back this I would need yokes and horses as I don't want to have to track down or make suitable bits.

Would much prefer that to a tree stump.

Max got the first thing that hit me when I looked at this project....

No Yoke and.... No Horse/Pony/Lizard of Burden.

I don't see a cart/wagon doing well without the Beasts that pull it... but I'm sure those are things in the authors head.

Something else that strike's me... is the pieces look a bit more like Playmobile than war-game related... that's a personal preference of my own Bia's.... not an insult. There are so many miniatures that look like they were made for a toy system or lack that feeling that grabs yah. It's like the personality of the old Citadel figs before GW changed everything I loved so much.
Most war-game related figs have/had a bit more "Beef" added to them to survive handling... it also was the result of spin-casting which made it easier to make the pieces as well as their metal being very cheep back in the day. Now with Injection molding, excess material slows down the cycle rate of the molds and thinner parts are more desirable to keep costs down.

I do like the cart and associated pieces....It would be nice to see it against known 28-33mm Figures.

I messaged Jonathan suggesting that he have the tree, fork and a cart horse or two as the first add-on.

There is a lack of decent 28mm wagons out there so I want this one to be the dream wagon.
