Where do you get your pre-painted miniatures ? 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I use to get my per-painted miniatures from PopularCollections.com. But no longer will I deal with them. I did a per-order back in September of 2013 for the Legends of Golarion set with the Gargantuan Green Dragon and also the Wrath of the Righteous with the Gargantuan Demon Lord. The problem was when I got my LoG set I had to email them to get them to ship me my Dragon. I was told they forgot to add it. Then once The Wrath was released I had to email them a few weeks after release to see if it was mailed yet. I got and email back saying that it was packed up and shipped. A week later I sent another email asking for a tracking number because I still had not received it yet. I was told then that it was delayed and would go out that day. What !!! Delayed for a week when they told me it was shipped a week ago. (I would not trust these guys as far as I could throw them. But, I did finally get the Wrath case and guess what? Yep, no Gargantuan Demon. Again they did not ship all of my order. I emailed them again and was told they did not get there shipment of the Demon Lords that was on Feb 14, 2014. Sorry I don't buy any of that crap. I know they sell the Gargantuan miniatures separate also so I believe the sold all of them instead of fulfilling there per-orders. I was told as soon they get them in they would ship me one. Well yesterday 4-11-14 was the end of that for me I sent them and email to just send me back the money for the Demon ($30) I got the money back on my Paypal. But, the ting that make me so mad it that the reason to buy the case and Gargantuan is to get a saving on the deal. Now it will cost me more than the $30 to get the Demon. So that being said I am done with PopularCollections and would advise anyone to not buy form them. I will be spreading this story to all my gaming groups and friends and would suggest you do the same. The only way a consumer can stand up for each other it to pass on bad or good experiences we have when we buy things.
So with that said where do you buy your per-painted miniatures at.

I've been similarly burned by PopularCollections. If you Google them you'll find dozens of similar stories. He offers fantastic prices, but sometimes things ARE too good to be true.

I've had good luck with Popular Collections, Miniature Market, Auggie's, and Troll and Toad.

But you might want to consider Paizo itself. They just changed their subscription prices. A case is now $279 + $10 for the promo. The only downside is the shipping isn't free. For me, it's almost $45. Still, it's a good price and it helps keep the line running to order directly from Paizo.

As a warning, I was burned by troll and toad selling me damaged items on two different occasions a few years back. It was clear that the damage didn't occur during shipment.

MIniature Market.com has a solid reputation. For used minis....post a wanted add on craigslist. You may get lucky. I got VERY lucky.
A gamer who didn't have time anymore gave me ALL of his 2nd and 3.5ed stuff. Books. Adventures. Miniatures.

He said treat it well, never sell it, and its yours. Also he was allowed to come play in our game any time he wanted. He drops by once or twice a year.

similar to cody I got lucky when I got back into D&D 3.5 years ago. I had traded off my collection of prepainted minis so was essentially starting from scratch w only a few warhammer armies (not the best for the rigors of D&D).

the manager of the sotore I run encounters at decided to sell his collection of D&D minis and I fount out about it on the second day. some guys had cherry picked the super expensive rares but I was able to get about 2k of minis for under $0.10 each.

Since then I have bought piazo minis atthe store as they are realeased - I buy 1 or 2 a week until I start duplicating rares I don't want duplicated. The store knows I will buy about a case so I get to buy the Promos Gargantuan model for each set. Then I buy commons on ebay to fill out the collection. between this and a few trades at the store I have successfuly fillded out my colection.

It costs me a bit more then if I bought a case straight up but I get the pleasure of spreading the opening over 2 months. I am not really in a hurry to complete a set. As long as I get the gargantuan model (whichis the only one in truly short supply) I can wait to get any of the rares. whenever I buy rares off ebay I invariabley pull them before the shipment arrives.

I have a pretty good relationship at the local store. I spend money there and they treat me well. I don't get nor expect discounts but I do get the items I want, within the store's ability to order them. This being Canada, some stuff is harder to get but they do try their best. They get to bring in product, sell on to me the vast majority, and sell some to more casual buyers without risk of overstock.

I can second being wary with Troll and Toad. I had a good transaction, one where the "random lot" they sent me was entirely duplicates of a single figure, and then they sent one that only had half my order in it. They initially tried to offer me the remainder of my order at a reduced price and full shipping. Then they agreed to do it for just shipping. The second shipment was wrong and they used up all my store credit which totaled more than the shipping.

It was the first time I had to interact with their customer service directly and since then I have sold them things in a few cases, but I have bought nothing from them.

My players rue the day I bought "Dragon Mountain". Ever since they give every creature a bit more respect. You never know when the GM will decide that this group is crafty...

Miniature Market has decent prices, free shipping on orders over $100, and good customer service. Their buy back program is a pretty sweet deal as well. I always get my order within just a couple days of purchase, though I am only a state over from their warehouse
