Thundercock Miniatures Modular Dugeon Terrain 9 Months, 3 Weeks ago
www.kickstarter.com/projects/1302882483/thundercock-miniatures-modular-dungeon-terrain?ref=live

Anyone see this yet? A new Kickstarter for dungeon terrain... someone in the Comments section asked if it's compatible with DF, but no response from the creator, yet.

Yea I saw this link on the reaper forums and the comments were mostly well you can imagine lol. As far as backing 9 dollars for 20 little dungeon dressing pieces isn't bad but as far as the actual terrain it looks like it is somewhat of a hassle and with 5 sets of DF GT plus stretch goals I will be staying away from it. Basically DF meets all my terrain needs and I will be sticking with what I know for the time being

I also like the addons but DF is my 3d scenery choice.

Mine too... I was just doing my regular search on Kickstarter and came across it... thought this would be a good place to mention it. Wanted to get some impressions and feedback as to what people think.

Myself, I am intrigued with the concept but not sold on it, yet.

It's always interesting to see someone come up with an idea and try to make it happen.

At first glance I see 2 problems with this terrain. Its too tall. If the terrain is too deep you cant see the figures and people have to stand up or have a custom table. The pegs to clip the pieces together will break. Pegs are a bad idea. Yeah I'm going to say it, what a horrible name.

It's nice to see people giving things a try.

It doesn't work for my for a few reasons...

1.) I am thinking there is a peg system because the weight of these will be light. That means they will scatter easily during game play.

2.) I am not really interested in a peg system because it is tiny tiny bits and I have a toddler... I also don't want to be pegging things together... and unpegging things personally.

3.) I don't particularly need any of the pieces I see. The varied floor bits could be handy for puzzles if they were shaped 2x2... but this doesn't appear to be the case.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention though.

I wouldn't personally be interested in anything below the "Ultimate" set... and for 300 dollars I would MUCH rather have 300 dollars worth of Dwarven Forge in just about any format.

The name is terrible...

I'd much rather say to my buddies "Hey, come look at my new Dwarven Forge I got today!" than "Hey, come look at my new Thundercock I got today!"

-_-

I do like the detail, but wish it weren't pegged. I want to be able to set up and clean up quickly.

If someone said the second, bolded comment to me, I would have to decline

Note: Pegs are not included.

Huh? - you make a pegged system and even at the highest tier you do not provide the pegs??? - that just seems weird.

I want to like this, but it looks like just another "me too" product in a market space with several great options: DF for those who want it beautifully finished easy to set up and flexible, or Hirst Arts for those who want to do the work and make absolutely anything. Not seeing the value in this one :(

High walls look great until you go to use them in tight spaces then they can be impracticable.

Having said that, if DF added to their Game Tiles a 1" taller Straight Wall and Diagonal wall I would buy a set or two or three so that bigger rooms with higher ceilings could stand out. It would be nice to have some Game Tiles that say high ceiling room or castle wall or I could use them to hold up things in multi level dungeons without them looking out of place. Crap now I want DF to make some 1" taller Straight Wall and Diagonal walls.

I hadn't noticed that point about the pegs not being included. That is a bit ridiculous. I did go in for the accessories (still building my inventory up) as it's $9 and I can pick it up from the border easily enough so minimal shipping charge and it's always a good excuse to get out with the wife without the kids. I usually try to coordinate other shipments so it's more worth my gas and time, too... anyways, I'll have to post in the comments about that. I think I'll keep it at that level and not buy into this system at all.
