ArmorCast has a line of "cinematic effects" that would make spiffy traps. Things like flame gouts, billowing smoke, slime blasts, and so on, that could be added to wall pieces.

Cool link Jackattack. My favorite is the "explosive hamster round":

"Explosive tip caseless Hamster ammo for all your rodent delivery needs. Why? Because someone, somewhere really wants to shoot a dude with a hamster."

...But the rest of the stuff there might actually be useful. The smoke plumes look quite good, especially considering how hard it is to model something as diffuse as smoke.

--Sounds like there are a couple decent battering ram options out there already. I may do one eventually anyhow but probably not right away. Might do some other siege stuff and traps, though.

What does everyone think about a few skeletons? Not risen dead, just "normal" skeletons lying on the floor? I find I often want them for dungeon dressings (sometimes to later jump up and be exchanged for an active malevolent mini).

A couple skeletons with gear on would be great. Maybe stick an unopened potion in its hand or belt. Fun way to find treasure:)

I am also a big fan of traps...

No interest in skeletons on the floor really. I can model those pretty easy from the multitudes of skeletons I have but that doesn't mean that dead bodies and skeletons etc aren't useful.

Because you mentioned dead bodies...

Anyone who has backed Stonehaven Miniatures' Kickstarter will know that they have created a dead/unconscious mini for each of their Kickstarters so they have a dwarf, a gnome and will have an elf soon.

I was in on theirs from the beginning... I almost didn't go in on the elven one because I wasn't impressed with the initial drawings, but I'm glad I decided to as the greens are looking great!

Hi everyone!

I just finished up the first cast of my dwarven hold / mine entrance. Thanks for all the suggestions along the way! I think this will come in handy for characters needing to enter a big ol' Dwarvenite Cavern...

Oooh! I like that a lot! I never cared for some of the extreme blocky angular interpretations for dwarven stonework that I've seen. I think dwarves should have a practical style vs. aesthetics, and you have hit a nice balance.

I agree about the balance between practical and aesthetic. It looks both decorative and functional.

Have you considered sculpting an insert for the open doorway? Perhaps smooth finished stonework on one side, and rough natural rock on the other, for three (3!) ways to use the dwarven gate?
