@willmontgomery,

Those are all good points. Thanks for the response. I am kind of happy I don't care for the MBA Castle since I'm admittedly addicted to Kickstarter and would be tempted to pledge for it otherwise... and I don't know how I'd explain it to the wife!

@LordDust,
Yes, I'll definitely check them out at GenCon.

I don't own any MBA products. Looking at the castle from the link below I'm singularly unimpressed with the MBA pictures for their upcoming Castle KS. http://www.miniaturebuildingauthority.com/castlekickstarter.asp

That looks like one of the most boring castles I have ever seen. I just have zero excitement for it. I showed it to my wife and she thought the same thing.

I recently bought into some Mage Knight Castle pieces and those are more my style.[/quote]

The MBA Keep replaces the OOP keep in this photo. It looks exactly like the type of fortification it is meant to represent. It will not be inexpensive.The new sections will add a lot of options to the modular sections already in production.

"That looks like one of the most boring castles I have ever seen. I just have zero excitement for it. I showed it to my wife and she thought the same thing."

Is this kind of negative comment necessary?

LordDust @jchunick - Since you are going to Gen Con you will probably get a chance to see MBA stuff in person. I recommend it. Their stuff is largely more historical than fantasy, but they do have some very cool fantasy pieces. These guys make really nice stuff. I own very little, but I do recommend them. Dwarvenite is more durable, but their resin stuff is very detailed. The only problems for me are the prices. They get a bit rich for my blood on several products.

I agree resin is not as durable as PVC. My MBA stays home. It is too expensive to risk. The price of resin is going up and I do not think it will ever be better. I Know some of the starfort sections will be in very great demand. The Keep has been sold out for awhile. I hope the kick starter will allow every one that wants one to get one this time.

I am looking forward to the door kickstarter.

@Oldmanwillow,

I think it's unfortunate you find my opinions and comments about the MBA Castle negative enough not to be 'necessary'. Several others have responded to those opinions and have not called them negative and unnecessary, so I am going with the majority here in my consideration of keeping the original post. If you think it's not appropriate you can always contact a moderator of the forum to have it removed. I fully accept their decision as it's their forum.

{{As per Oldmanwillow's request to remove the 'offending' posts which I am loath to do because it messes with context too much so I'll be responsible and keep the original post below for historical purposes, for better or worse}}

@Oldmanwillow,

I think you probably found the comment overly negative due to the 'one of the most ... I have ever seen.' qualification. I'll just simply state that I find the MBA Castle boring and we can strike the rest of the offending sentence.

But this thread is not about MBA and so I think we need to get it back on track to discussing GriffinTamer's amazing work.

I changed my mind about giving you the benefit of the doubt. Your comment was offensive. your qualification was just as negative. I did not make the thread about MBA your comment is dismissive and there for condescending.
Apologize or do not. I do not care what your opinion is.

My response to you stating: 'Is this kind of negative comment necessary?' was anything but negative or intended to be negative, nor dismissive or thusly condescending. I think you read it completely wrong and I apologize for writing it so poorly that you read it wrong. I was simply trying to figure out what you had taken offense to in what I originally wrote and figured that if I had originally written that I thought the MBA Castle was boring looking then that would have expressed my opinion well enough without having to be so excessive.

That all being said, I suspect there's more to this whole issue as to why you have taken what I wrote so personally seeing as it's about MBA and has nothing to do with you or your skills at building models which, for whatever it's worth (not much at this point, I'd bet), I think are phenomenal.

I will finish by saying that willmontgomery explained it well; the MBA stuff is more historical medieval which explained for me why I don't care for it.

Edit:
I will also add that it would seem that I am much better at making lists of things and tutorials than expressing my opinions... that realization probably won't stop me from making that mistake again of expressing myself outside of what I'm comfortable with (lists and tutorials) because it also happens I'm real good at repeating the same mistakes, as my wife will confirm! :-S

I personally own a few MBA pieces and find them of the highest quality available. A lot higher quality than Mage Knight. As for being more wargaming than fantasy, I really don't see that as an issue myself. As Oldmanwillow stated, the biggest issue is their price, but you get what you pay for in quality. Yes, I would never take it out of the house for gaming. My wife also loves it, especially her hobbit hole! It being more historically medieval is part of why I like it being a historian myself. But to each his own. Some people like lime and some like lemon and others chocolate and thank god for it! As for the castle, I have not had a chance to look at it, but it is doubtful that I could afford their KS right now either. I do thank the poster for the link however.

Back to Griffins KS wishlist...

Draw Bridge Gate
Demon Gate/Portal
Bone Gate - made of the bones of various creatures
Dragon Gate - either made of dragon skeleton, or has statues.
Wooden/Stone Fort Gate with battlement
Waterfall Cave - a large piece with a cave entrance. (I like the DF options, but there is room for something more elaborate)

Tunnel leading down

My idea for a tunnel would be 2 pieces, a cave entrance and a tunnel/hole

1- The Entrance.
An above ground piece that showed the tunnel going down. This could have rocks, roots, trees.

2 - The Tunnel
This piece would be about 1ft tall, and look like a standing half pipe.
It would have ledges to place minis as they climb up/down. A straight tunnel and a curved tunnel, ideally stackable. Rocks, burrows, ropes, hooks, broken ladders adorn the sides.

"That all being said, I suspect there's more to this whole issue as to why you have taken what I wrote so personally"

You should take responsibility for your own actions instead of shifting blame.
There are thousands of ways to express an opinion with out being negative.You did not choose one.Now you have switched tactics.It did not work.I did not miss understand anything. This is not about me it is about you. I am not interested in your false compliments or your delusions about my motives.

If you wish to resolve this issue. Remove your negative post. I will do the same when I see that you have.
I will keep my opinions to myself I will expect you to do the same.

Now that's no fair, we are old men! Let us have scatter guns at least<G>! Rather that, let me have my Marlin! Besides, no one was trashing the OP except there used to be a policy about coming on there to sell stuff on there. At least there was on the old board. Wish that was still in affect personally. Nothing against his work, it looks great.
