I want to make the point again that I'm not placing judgement on the situation, but just offering advice to those that have sent money via Paypal. To clear up the possible confusion, I didn't state earlier that you can cancel a payment via Paypal. What I stated was that you have 60 days to file a complaint with Paypal in reference to disputing a transaction. In this case the dispute would involve not receiving goods already paid for. Paypal will request a written response from the accused party. You will see their response, as well as proof that they mailed the items if this is their claim. It usually takes about 45 days to have your money returned.

I tried that as well but since I didn't get it from ebay and I chose the send money to friend and family option (so he wouldn't have to pay any fees like a seller) it won't give me the option to do that since I didn't choose the pay for items option.

I'm very sorry to hear that you choose the option to send money under the guise of "friend or Family." I've never done that when paying for a "Goods or Service" with Paypal due to buying a good or service. I now realize from your comment though that you probably don't have any recourse with Paypal because of choosing this option (even though you were buying goods). All of my previous and current comments about how to contest a Paypal transaction have been with the understanding that you choose the option when paying for "Goods and Services."

As a final point, with all my numerous online gaming forum sales of extra gaming supplies, I ask the buyer if they would consider paying some or all of my 3.1% Paypal fees. I also state that this is their optional choice and ok if they choose no. Almost every person has paid the full fee even though they didn't have too. I did have one person choose the friends and family option (to not pay my optional 3.1% fee), which entailed me having to contact them because Paypal doesn't forward their mailing address, since it isn't involving a good or service.

I really hope your get either the item you paid for or your money back.

i haven't heard anything but I was able to recoup my money through Paypal since it was a standard invoice. I hope his family is okay, I've been worried about him for awhile now. Hopefully we get some news soon.

I checked his FB page a while ago but didn't see anything public (not a FB friend) that would show something happened.

Thank you.

If I had a problem getting in touch with someone, and money was involved, I might try sending a friend request as a way to initiate contact.

I actually did that a few years ago. I was on FB for a few weeks helping an off-site colleague get paid. Worked really well.

I tried looking for him on FB but couldn't figure out which one was his. I was suppose to send him a letter via snailmail but got a job and haven't had time to yet. I am not able to get my money back via paypal since I used the send money to friend option hopefully I'll figure something out soon.

I am very sorry that I had not checked back for several months. I ended up working overtime for several months and that along with taking care of my son and other childrenn I was exhausted and wasn't on the forum or my computer at all for quite awhile. I saw that paypal refunds went out for several items I wasnt able to ship since I was so overwhelmed. If anyone did not get a refund let me know and I'll make it right. I'm sorry I had to focus on the family and my job during those difficult months and wasn't able to follow up here.
