Re:Reaper Bones 2 Kickstarter 1 Year, 1 Month ago
A total Dragon fanatic, so of course I had to pick up any and all the lizards and Kin that I could (if I was richer, I would have picked up multiple of each).

But I was not tempted by the Kraken and other underwater monsters, nor the scifi. Not enough involved games to justify the expanse.

But I am looking forward to this time next year, constantly chanting: "Is it here yet?"

:)

The tiered delivery dates were an interesting concept this time, and as a large backer I appreciated that (given that because of the size of my last order, I was at the back of the line for delivery for Bones I).

This time they are NOT penalizing their largest backers.

Good job Reaper.

That's great, but if I'd realized I'd be waiting 13 months for one mini...

Look at the bright side jack, it may be thirteen months but there is no guarantee that the cube will see retail before then and it may be more expensive then... so at least you get a deal and it will probably be in your hands sooner than it could be otherwise. Plus, that sculpt looks pretty awesome, how could you really say no?

My players rue the day I bought "Dragon Mountain". Ever since they give every creature a bit more respect. You never know when the GM will decide that this group is crafty...

Y'know, I really couldn't!

Of all the gelatinous cubes I've seen -- some that were actually pretty mediocre and now sell at prohibitive sums, and some really nice ones made by people on this very site -- this was the one I had to have, for all of the reasons LordDust said.

Everything else in the kickstarter I can wait for or do without.

And I will say that it was really great that Reaper made that an option!

Has there been any word on a Bones 3 KS?

Probably won't hear anything until after Bones 2 starts to ship.

They did say during Bones 2 that they are not sure they will do a Bones 3. They did also say they are definitely going to do another KS, but maybe for a skirmish game or other game produced by Reaper. If they are going to go that route I would love to see them do something akin to Hero Quest or Descent.

They may of course have already changed their minds or may still yet do so, but they kinda implied that they think the market may be a bit saturated at this point. I only hit their forums rarely, so they may have recanted or changed their position by now. Who knows? If it had enough cool sculpts or was more terrain dressing heavy I might be inclined to try to join in another one.

Another option that would tempt me would be a KS for a smaller number of minis in the legendary encounters format, i.e. prepainted. I have so much painting and crafting to catch up on that I would be more tempted by prepainted.

I would be defiantly back a legendary encounter, or other prepaint KS. The reason I passed on Bones 1/2 was that I didn't think I would ever get around to painting them all.

The quality of prepainted minis has really gone up since WoC Harbinger.

I am excited to see the new WoC mini set this summer. Hoping they improve on some of the complaints from the Pathfinder mini line, while keeping that level of quality.

I look at a lot of my pathfinder minis and think "I would have loved this when I was 10.

I did Bones 2, I missed one. The Dragons Don't Share II, Khanjira (sp?), and the Cube were too tempting for me to pass on. I am excited to paint a mess of them, the sculpts looked pretty nice. While "Bonesium" doesn't hold detail as well as pewter, it is very inexpensive and works out to be a great quality/price ratio in my view. I like painting, I just have a hard time justifying more money into a backlog as big as my current one unless it is something genuinely outstanding.

The pathfinder minis are pretty good. Once in a while though I get a paint job that makes me cringe. Also, in a brick I find that there are far more damaged pieces than I expected. They'll replace them if they have singles, but it is a major hassle and there is a small expense from what I understand. Hopefully WotC exceeds that with the new line.

My three year old loves all my game tiles, minis, and terrain. I'm looking forward to more advanced play with them later and eventually even her help in crafting. Right now we can really only build things with the tiles which she either promptly destroys Godzilla style or decorates "house" style.

The kraken's pretty awesome, but I don't k ow if I'll bother buying it. The giant skeleton I bought out of the last set started bending over time and now doesn't really stand up straight. I have a feeling its probably common amongst the larger minis made of that material

There was talk that they changed some things with Bones 2 to address some issues they had with Bones 1. They did not go into very deep specifics that I saw, but they said that changes would be made to reduce the number of issues in the final pieces.
