Seen them.

His paint jobs are good, but they do not get rid of the chunkiness of the sculpt.

I still feel the Ainsty sculpts are superior to the Grendel ones.

With the Grendel packages I also do not think that it is just the sculpting style, but the objects are inferior as well.

I really do not need the Star Trek style command chair that comes in the command consols package. The other two stations look pretty fair though.

I do not like all but two of the items in the Cryogenics and Medi-Lab package. I like only the two different style of beds: examination and ICU.

I really do not need the Bab 5 style Zocalo bar from the Cyber Bar package either. I might be able to use the other pieces in a ready room or a wardroom.

The Sci-Fi Accessories package has limited usefulness as well with the all but useless hatch piece and with the armory wall and locker pieces if the weapons in your game do not look like the ones molded in. Minor problem with those two particular pieces though. The ladder mount is the best piece in the set.

I actually have little to no complaints with the Sci-Fi Floors and Doors or the Sci-Fi Cargo Bay sets. Granted, we do not need the sheets of sci-fi flooring from the one set, but the doors look pretty fair.

We will see the difference in late-April or early-May when my group gets its order off, the items arrive and I and my wife get a chance to paint ours.

I am ordering are these Ainsty items:
1024 Medical Bay 2
1032 Sci-Fi Equipment Set 3
1033 Power Pack 1
2705 Octagonal Flat Cases 1
2704 Grenade & Ammo Cases 1
2714 Container Set III 2
2718 Pipes Set 2
2760 Spacesuit Rack 2
2761 Beds 4
3531 3x3cm Pipes 2
3532 3x6cm Pipes 3
3535 Expansion Set 4
6186 Power Pack II 1
A51 Salute Door 2

I might get some other items, but I do not know at this time.

Need to go. Hope all is well with you. Have a great day!

Things are good here, Thanks,

There is little Doubt that DF created Sci-Fi, (Or any other Features), would look the Best for using with DF Stuff... My Biggest Gripe with ANY of the other stuff I have seen Pics of is that they are "Mounted" on a Floor section, which means that it is Automatically restricted to corresponding Sized floors... So if as an example DF were to release a "Med Bay" it would hopefully have some Furniture that Could be used in ANY Setting, if it was done the same way that the Dungeon Accessories were... This would be a clear advantage over Grendal or Ainsty... That having been Said, I am with you on the Command Chair Issue, but I Really like the Look of the Consoles (Grenadal), which can more easily fit in with the more Generic Sci-Fi look of the DF stuff... Either way, I would also like to see WK make an attempt, since their Stuff though Rubber Looks Pretty Darn Good in a Pinch, AND has the added benefit of being a lot Cheaper...

A couple of Years ago when MBA first got Going I exchanged several E-mails with one of their CS people, and was Told that a "Modern" series was in the Works, (Which has had a limited offering since then), and that a Sci-Fi was being discussed... So Maybe eventually MBA will add something useful as well, I have some of their Crates, and boxes of Produce and the Like, they are quite serviceable...

In any Event, the fact that there is a Compouter Console in the Next Addon for DF's Sci-Fi stuff gives me hope that DF will take the Reigns, which is still the Best (Most Preferable), solution in my Less than Humble Opinion...

So Rabid Fox, when you get your Ainsty I would really enjoy getting to see it in a set up, and or hearing your Opinions once you have a chance to explore the options :)

You got me thinking about this so I spent some time at the Ainsty site. It’s been some time since I’ve looked at the site. Wow, there are some nice new lines, especially the “Urban Legends Sets “The start of near-future gaming I could drop a grand plus on some of those goodies. Nothing frugal about that.

Are the pieces you’re talking about the ones form the "Cargo Hold set" “An ever increasing range of SF accessories?

I’ve got some time today so I’ll flash and prime a few of the Grendel sci-fi models and take a few pics so we can compare look, size, etc.

Wowee!! Where do you work that you have that sort of money to spend?
You lucky devil!!
Or is it you do not have all the financial responsiblities that some of us do?

I definitely agree it is not frugal on the face, but compared to the available alternatives, Ainsty product is worth the money like the Armorcast product is.

From a variety of series, not just Cargo Hold.
Let me give you the list again and then which series they are.

I am ordering are these Ainsty items:
1031 Medical Bay 2
1032 Sci-Fi Equipment Set 3
1033 Power Pack 1
2705 Octagonal Flat Cases 1
2704 Grenade & Ammo Cases 1
2714 Container Set III 2
2718 Pipes Set 2
2760 Spacesuit Rack 2
2761 Beds 4
3531 3x3cm Pipes 2
3532 3x6cm Pipes 3
3535 Expansion Set 4
6186 Power Pack II 1
A51 Salute Door 2

The 10** are from Tech Tunnel.
The 27** are from Cargo Hold.
The 35** are from Downbelow.
The 61** is from Pipe Farm.
The A** is a speciality item that is available on request only.

Plus, I am thinking of adding:
2715 Pressurized Gas Cylinder
5933 Propane/Gas Tank
5972 Character Boxes
5992 Office Desk Set
5993 Burger Bar Set
6187 Storage Cylinders

The 59** are from Vacant Lot
The 61** is from Pipe Farm.

I’ve got some time today so I’ll flash and prime a few of the Grendel sci-fi models and take a few pics so we can compare look, size, etc.

When you take pics, could you do an aircraft spread on each? (Front, back, above and lateral.)
You could use your computer to combine the four into one for the DF Forum.
That would let us really see the characteristics of the pieces.

 Let me define “could as “wish I could or “would love too spend the money. However the bulk of our expenditures are now in the acquiring of our new game-hall. Our funds aren’t limitless unfortunately. But hopefully in the future just like we’ve grinded out our fantasy miniatures, accessories, and the like we'll finish up our “Sci-Fi and ‘Modern’’ to the level of our fantasy stuff.
However, I don’t think I’ll be finding those nice Ainsty pieces in the discount bin. Maybe if I take a trip to the UK I could hit up game stores and really clean up cheap! Visit a castle and buy a miniature one all in one day!......Oh, wait, Ummmmm…..I’ve got to go back to work. :? ;)

No problem.
I have a very old digi-cam, but I will be able to get some pics up.

You will just need a bit of patience MLV.

The Ainsty items just have to get here first which necessitates they be ordered and before that, the money needs to be available.
For my gaming group it looks like that will all come together in mid-to-late April or early May.
Most of us are married and have to budget the funds in to be able to do so.
It will take that long for most of us to have the money we want to spend on this.
One guy in the group is planning to make this his one and only Ainsty order.
His wife almost never lets him spend on gaming.
On the rare occassions that he gets the green light, he SPENDS!!
We try to tell him that is why he gets to spend so rarely.
We also try to tell her that is why he spends so much when he gets her approval.
We have even had spouses tell her because she does not believe the gamers.
I do not think she believes them either really.
Oh well, life is that way sometimes.

Yes, the singles among us are wailing about the hold up, but of course they want help with the S&H so they are waiting anyway.
They, of course, were planning to use their credit cards while almost all of us married folk have gotten rid of those greedy monsters.
We are going to be paying Ainsty via PayPal.
I am so glad that Ainsty accepts PayPal.
I have grown to really appreciate and like this method of payment.

Have a great weekend!

(I Actually have to Budget my Play Money, if I am to Get any DF, D&D, Whatever)... So No Worries there, it may have Sounded like I was Being Impatient, but I was Just being Vocal...<Chuckle>...

I have a large collection but spent about 10 years working for the local gamestore. Instead of money I got a set amount of store credit each week. Between that, ebay and swappingI ended up with so much stuff I had rent a room in the same building as my FLGS to store it all.
