Very nice! I especially like the vague striations left from the masons who polished it ;-)

I think it turned out quite well. :-)

Are you going to try and paint a whole set with those colors or just a special room?

Keeblerorc,

Can you tell us more about your project? Is this something you printed, a sculpt, some free-hand...

I always wanted to print a marble texture to use with my system of gaming tables with textures (link) but I was never satisfied with the images I found. Here`s a tiled image I have (www.cgtextures.com) of a quartz floor:

I wish I had a tiled image of a green, white & black marble floor.

Richens,

Thank you for the link. I already had this link from Abaroth bookmarked though. I'm looking for a real tiled image so that I can print it many many many times without needing to paint a 40"*48" surface.

Is the problem finding a tile, or picking one from all of the choices? Cos when I Google "image texture white marble" and "image texture green marble", I find lots of tiles.

Hey Guys,

In answer to a few questions:

The originals are etched then a mold made then a casting is made, primed black, base painted, details and texture dry brushed, Clear coated with a black tinted acrylic and in the end dry brushed again very lightly. believe it or not with no distractions( 2 AM) it goes pretty fast.

My intention is to add some Dwarven Forge compatible molds to my current range of molds and probably sell painted castings. These are all based on the 2 x 2 inch floor tile.

Biowizard: I cant help you with the Marble images other than go to a shop that works and sells stone and see if you can take pictures of some large slabs of what your looking for. Then Crop away!

This is a clever idea and concept: adding a new set of floor to be compatible with any type of wall you put around it. Could you tell us the dimensions of the biggest piece of marble floor you made?It seems to be 6"*8" with the floor carving representing a 5"*7" grid pattern. Am I right? Is it the same thickness as DF? HA? What material is it made from?

Hey Bio,

These Floors are 3/8" to match up with DF sets.

Your correct in that the large Floor is 6 x 8" with extra area around the edges to add free standing wall parts (In my mind you could buy a cheap old set of DF with the bow ties and grind off the floor parts to work).
The smallest tiles are 2 x 2" the rest vary from 2 x 4", 2 x 6", 2 x 8" and 4 x 4" so that they can enlarge the basic Floor areas to be as big as needed.

The Molds I sell are made of Silicone, If I sell painted floors I will cast them in Resin. The advantage to having the molds is people can cast in cheaper dental plasters of resins at their choice and be able to paint what ever paint scheme they wish. I will probably make 1/4" deep versions of these molds for the HA builders as well but I have to say that the extra 1/8th" depth helps to get bubbles out big time.

I know you put a lot of efforts into this project and it looks very cool! Since the floor is exactly 6"*8", I find it unfortunate that the carvings/grids are offset by half an inch (5*7 grid) on all sides in regards to DF pieces you would put around it. That is because the simplest method to put walls around your floor would not be to saw off DF pieces and create free-standing walls but to simply put DF pieces around with the floors oriented toward the outside. Would it be a lot of work to do a 6*8 piece with 6*8 carvings? I guess you had the HA crowd in mind when you choose the actual design of your big floor. The half inch offset would allow them to simply stick HA pieces on top of your beautiful floor!

Also, the floor carvings design is exquisite! Did you made all those by yourself? How? To me, it looks like Hirst Arts but I have never seen such a mold. If you made that floor all by yourself from scratch, I think Stefan should get in touch with you!!!
