Congratulations Alarian! Your self-made flight stands look good and I'm glad my advices helped. Please show us them in action!

I still only have 2" and 4" long pieces for now but I'm 95% sure I'll be doing more within the next month. Alarian choose to polish the ends with a MAP torch probably because he did not want to buy a buffing wheel. Although this process is fast, the edges become slightly rounded and tiny bubbles form. Finally, unless you make a LOT of rods, I would suggest you buy them directly from me.

I agree with Biowizard. It's definitely cheaper to buy them from him. The MAPP torch alone was very expensive. As to the buffing wheel, I tried using my buffing wheel but the speed wasn't adjustable and it spun too fast, It would repeatedly melt the threads of the wheel onto the end of the acrylic. After multiple failed attempts, I gave up on that. My ends do definitely have a bit of a round to them and I was having quite a bit of trouble with bubbles initially. The amount of time between having the torch on the rod not long enough and having it on too long is extremely small and it's a bit of an art to remove it at the exact right time. When I first started I had a lot of troubles with bubbling. By the end I was pretty happy with how they were turning out. I actually went back and redid quite a few of the shorter ones (I started with the short ones and worked my way up to the 8" ones.)

All in all, I enjoyed doing them, but if Biowizard had had the longer ones in stock I would have definitely ordered them from him instead.
