Something to do while waiting for my Game Tiles 1 Year, 7 Months ago
Hi, folks. Well, now that the Kick Starter is done, we've all got some time before the tiles get to us. I've decided in the interim to start buying or making some accessories for my dungeons. I plan to include sources where possible, if purchased, and some tutorials for some of the scratch-built projects. Here's a pic of the first project, some torches.

Here's a link to the post on my blog if you are interested.

Great idea. I like that you were able to make these with stuff that can be bought from a craft store.

Nicely done! Thanks for the step-by-step tutorials. I'm always on the lookout for ways dress up my dungeon, be they purchased or homemade. In fact, it's become a bit of a compulsion. I see stuff at the hobby store (or just lying around my house) and think "this would make a great ___ for a dungeon".

Also, I like the repaint you did on the Blood of Vol Cultist D&D minis (pretty sure those are the robed figures on your pics). I ended up with a bunch of these guys from random draws and will be "borrowing" your paint scheme to make them look a little nicer.

Keep up the good work and keep sharing :)

It's all those fiddly details that give personality to a dungeon...

i liked the torches i think im going to try my hand at some soon im thinking of making the flames out of sculpey so when i store them they wont get messed up like the q-tips might and while i have some sculpey i might pick up some woodland scenics water effects and make myself some Darktentacles for my forgotten realms campaign if i actually get to do these ill post some pictures

@Feymous: Thanks very much. I also am always looking at stuff to see what can be built from it. Good eye on the mini. That one is a "Human Cultist" from the Wrath of Ashardalon boardgame, but it is the old "Blood of Vol" cultist, they just re-released it unpainted. So it's not technically a re-paint, it's just a "paint". :)

@Keeblerorc: Thanks! I've been checking out your gelatinous cubes and transparent slimes on e-bay. When my wallet recovers from the DF KS I'm going to have to send some money your way. :)

@Crimson_King_of_the_Tower: Thanks. Sculpting the flames will be a cool project, I bet you'll be able to get a nice contoured surface for the flames. I hope you'll post pics when you make some. The q-tip flames I made are actually very tough, though. After shaping the flames from the cotton, I dipped them into a 50/50 mix of Elmer's white glue and water. When that dries, the flame is pretty hard and strong. I would be careful of using the Woodland Scenics water, you would probably be better off using Envirotex Lite. They carry it at Hobby Lobby. I buy it whenever I have a 40% off coupon. The Woodland Scenics water has a problem with shrinkage.
