Trees: The Bane of my Existence 2 Years, 1 Month ago
Awhile back I purchased a kit from woodland scenics that allowed me to make my own trees. First I used the glue that they recommended from their company. You let it dry clear and it becomes tacky and then you dip the armature it in the foliage and you have a tree. These trees look good but they shed nonstop. It has been half a year now and they still shed. I have tried using regular elmers glue instead, sealing with spray varnish, even hairspray. I have given up. I hate these trees.

I have been looking at these:

Bachman Pine Trees

They are ready to go out of the box. Has anyone used them? Do they shed?

Any other ideas for trees that do not shed?

I have been making my own trees for about 10 years. I use reindeer moss for the foliage, and appropriate sticks I find around my house and on wilderness walks. I use elmers glue, or tacky glue or floral wire to attach the moss.

The foliage never wilts, or sheds. In fact I can't think of any issues that I have had with making trees in this manner.

I would also like to find some good trees. Hoping for some that would be considered large trees to a 28mm sized figure. Alot of trees I've seen are pretty small. Does anyone have some good suggestions other than making my own from twigs ect ;).

I posted this before many times. This is where I got all my trees:
pre-made, cheap & beautiful!

(web site not user friendly though...)

AND (for pine trees)

There is always some foliage lost with miniature trees.
Those trees do not loose foliage the way jericho describes his own though.

Any tree made with shredded flocking is going to shed. You might experiment with matte sealant from a spray can or an airbrush, but I wouldn't expect much.

You might hit the craft store and see what's available in the miniature village display section.

There are a few plastic trees listed here, but there are a few potential drawbacks including expense, scale, and lack of variety.
