ForgeCon??! 2 Years, 2 Months ago
Reaper has ReaperCon and Paizo has PaizoCon, how friggin awesome would it be if Dwarven Forge had ForgeCon (or some other title of Stefan's choosing)? I would so love to attend. We could of course run games, have a mini painting contest (although Kronos, Law, and Tom have a big advantage), hang out with Stefan and Jeff, and get to meet our fellow enthusiasts.
Best build contest could be another cool idea. Of course we would each have to pack at least a few sets.

What do you folks think?

As much fun as that would be, getting enough DF fans from around the world in one place at one time seems... ambitious.

I think we might be better off posting when we will be at other cons, try to meet if others are also going, and try to hold DF-oriented games, panels, or events at those cons.

Especially at GenCon. Even though I despair of ever actually getting to one myself.

As cool as a ForgeCon would be, I agree with jackattack that it may be just a little too niche to really work. Some kind of DF-fan pin, patch or something (maybe even with a spot to put your forum name) would be pretty cool. Now if I could just get myself to a con at some point...

he,he,he....I suspect it would only draw a dozen or so folks If at all....+ there is not much space here in my studio...we really are a tiny company...I work in my house here in Brooklyn, NY, and Jeff works in Carbondale, IL....Best Bet would be to meet at Gen Con...However....perhaps one day we could organize an extra special event via kickstarter? Maybe for the 20th anniversary? Carbondale would probably be best, so we would have to convince Jeff...he has experience in running small conventions there...Zaltar would of course happily run some games...

Hmmm. I don't recall ever reading that other thread before. Good memory Jackattack to bump it from five years ago!
OK, then let's at least post when we go to a con, maybe we can meet up that way. Any chance Zaltar might make it out West some day?

Y'know, we should all try to post before we go to a convention, and we should post after a convention.

Posting beforehand lets people see if fellow DFers are going to a nearby event.

Posting afterwards would allow us to tell Stefan and Jeff if we saw any DF products being used in the game room, or on sale in the dealer room, or (if you ran a game with DF yourself) how non-forum members liked playing a game with DF products.

Re:ForgeCon??! 2 Years, 2 Months ago
Hello All,

I have wanted to create and run a weekend all out rpg with DF for years now.... I wanted to create a SICK dungeon with all my DF and as many baddies as makes sense. My dream is to have x number of rounds for the game. The party would always be in melee... Maybe 1000 rounds... Have it setup like comic books of old where some malevolent power assembled said heroes to save the world in a [queue dramatic music] "DUNGEON OF DOOM" Each year there would be a slightly different twist. Maybe a crossover of superheroes into fantasy one year... Who couldn't imagine a rogue with Spiderman abilities, batman as a ranger, or the hulk as a permanent morphing raging barbarian?

Have many quests, riddles, and misleading quests. Have prizes donated by companies and create a scoring system based on what was accomplished. Each point would be a raffle in the drawing for prizes or the top point award winner gets to keep a fan trophy for one year.

I do not know if I will ever get to pull this off or if it sounds appealing to others. My friends and I used to gather twice a year but after almost 30 years of gaming the group broke up 2 years ago. Now I am just a degenerate DF collector without a game to play regularly.

I wonder if I put it out there for a springtime hardcore gaming weekend in Dallas (Central US, easy to get to and affordable) would A) I have enough support to design and run the game, and B) would we have enough players?

One day I will pull this off... In the meantime I will wait for ForgeNight at Gencon or ForgeCon etc.

Great choice of tune but that doesn't look like Alex Lifeson to me!
But seriously, Dallas could work. I was thinking St. Louis but DFW is closer for me! I will anxiously await word from Shadox. In the meantime, the first rule about ForgeCon is to not talk about ForgeCon. No wait, that's not right...

Who is a Californian here? Maybe next Kublacon or Dundracon we can set something up.

First of all.... That solo was AWESOME and earns a YOU ROCK THE FREE WORLD... Wait is that a feedback loop?

Anyway I am encouraged...

By the way I have been to Kublacon when I lived in the bay area and now that I live in Texas I have been to owlcon. They are both fun.

I wonder what we would call my gaming weekend idea....

How about.... Hmmm.... I don't know....

The YOU ROCK THE FREE WORLD Gaming Weekend!!!!

I will start teh website tonight and contact pepsi, paizo, monster, redbull, and of cource Frito Lay.

What gaming session would be without Mountain Dew, Monster Energy Drinks, Redbull, Doritos and of course rules to discuss during the game.

Stay Tuned to see the exciting conclusion of this dream...
