I like the tower; it is very ominous even in the light of day. Looking closely I found myself wondering if you used a surfactant, and/or vibration method to deal with some of the air bubbles when you cast the pieces? The piece looks pretty good I would say. Nice paint job too. :-)

I'm particularly fond of the background; the Andes mountains provide ample amounts of beautiful natural scenery. Combined with your tower there, it gives a very high fantasy, old world feel.

There are air bubbles, or, as I like to say, arrow damage!

The tower looks great! Well constructed and a fantastic paint job. How long did it take you to complete?

Thanks!

It took 19 total cast. I did it over a weekend and each cast took me roughly 30-40 min. I have a food dehydrator so once 19 casts were done I was able to build in a few hours. I built it in 3 parts per Bruce's instructions and let 1 part dry completely before moving on to the next one. Total time after the casts to build it (not including downtime) 3-4 hours not including painting. Really its the casting that takes up all of the time.

"arrow damage" haha I like that...

19 total casts you say? I guess that's not too bad... I have a food dehydrator too. Seems a much better alternative to using the oven for extended periods of time....

..So did you do wet water method? Pound your work table? Also what brand material did you use with your methods this time if I may ask. All interesting, and again my applause for your work on the tower.

Yes I used the wet water method and I have a table I made with a vibrating back massager screwed to the bottom so it vibrates as I pour (I used to have sponges taped to the bottom of a board and I just pounded it with my fists). I used Excalibur plaster Dark Grey. The dark grey stuff is nice because if your base coat wasn't thorough or you get a chip it isn't as noticeable.

Thanks!

I may make a gothic temple next.

I had 2 of these towers. They are great for the PFS module Frostfur Captives. You take the Paizo FlipMap and these act as the goblin towers.

Unfortunately my wife managed to drop them. I'm still not sure how she managed. I took them to a convention - with some DF setups. I managed to get everything back to the car with the help of my (then 10 year old) son who really struggled to get the box moved all way from the hall to the parking.

It already was in the car. I was only paying at the ticket machine.

When I came back I noticed something was wrong with my son. But I had to drive back with a fully loaded car and 5 people in it through the heavy London City traffic. I was only told when I was home.

It looked like someone had attacked the towers with a sledgehammer. I'm using CytsalCal alpha K - an extremly hard plaster. But hardness doesn't help against brittleness.

Until today I don't know how you can inflict that much damage when dropping the tower in a box less than 50 cm. It took a friend more than one game session (I was GM) gluing it together again.

In principle this isn't too much a problem. I do have more as 'arrow damage'. These towers actually got attacked properly.

Sorry for the rant - couldn't stop myself seeing the tower. I guess I even have pictures (before the damage) somewhere in the picture area.
