Thanks for the looks LegoRick, though I would really like to see them lined up against several other MBA buildings and not just that one cottage.....

Thanks LegoRick! Great comparison shots. And I agree, the modularity of his builds really sets them apart. For example, the PMC Old Mill can be set up as intended, or with just one story, or you can remove the water wheel, or remove the tall side chimney. The chimney is very cool as it could be used next to another building, even one from MBS. Plus, I only paid approx $20 for the thing!

That was my intention when I first grabbed my camera, but the box that has the majority of my MBA stuff was of course in the baaaaack of the closet (and on its side for some reason). I am in the process of reorganizing all of my game stuff, and even trying to get my DF/MBA and other miniature terrain and figures out in the open. After that happens I do hope to take a pic with the PMC buildings next to MBA, if someone else doesn't do it first! :]

It too is taking forever for the items to get shipped to me. Been around 3 weeks so far. I am not overly worried as others said shipping takes a while. I am mainly posting this, because once everyone else says something about shipping time on these forums, the items magically appear on their doorstep immediately after - I am hoping this trend continues with me ;)

@ erc1971: Yeah, don't worry too much about the shipping. I ordered on 9-14 and it didn't get here until 10-26.

WOW - that is quite a lengthy shipping time. I feel sorry for the seller though, by the time you get the items it is too late for you to give him positive feedback, lol.

I have about 20 pieces of this PMC stuff. In fact, most of my Winterhaven buildings outside of the MBA walls were PMC buildings. Here's the link to the post which has the winterhaven pics, which I posted 6 months ago.

Yes, they are cheap alternatives to MBA. But, to be frank, they are smaller than MBA and not as nice (colors are drab, dimensions are smaller, resin seems more flimsy, etc.). Given, that they are three to four times cheaper, they make a good low cost alternative. But, MBA products are superior in most respects, so if you can afford MBA instead, I would go with MBA.

As is often the case in life, you tend to get what you pay for. That being said, these products are great for the more budget-conscious gamer.

Addicted to DF - Proud owner of 147 DF sets and counting = 126 new non-bowtie sets, and 21 older bowtie sets! By some miracle, I have managed to avoid wife aggro so far...

Thanks for posting that link, Sorn. I don't know how I missed that when you originally posted it. Whew I shouldn't be surprised at the quantity of gaming aids you have, but I still am! lol

Re:Alternative to MBA 2 Years, 8 Months ago
So after emailing Martyn so many times about roofs he gave me the option to purchase two prototype 4x4 roofs. I just got them and pictures are below. Here are a couple of comments on my end, and I also will relay what he told me about purchasing roofs from him for those interested. Just to be clear, I have no involvement with Martyn other than as a recent customer and I paid for these roofs (they weren't a freebie or an advertising move).

If you already have buildings from PMC games these roofs are exactly the same quality and paint job. Just a little bigger, and they fit just perfectly over a 4x4 layout of DF. The color of the beams doesn't match DF exactly, but again it's the same as his original roofs. I think it looks good with either MBS or classic dungeon set pieces, but it's not an exact color match. The paint of the roofs themselves is a nice light brown.

Martyn sent me two chimneys as well unattached. He said they can be glued on. They are okay the way they are (the paint job is excellent), but I think they are a little warped or curved and I will let him know that he should probably redo the mold before selling them.

The other feature I really like is that the roofs are semi-modular. You can easily put them side by side over a 4x8 building and they look like one bigger roof. They have a large flat surface on the bottom (see picture) so they rest solidly on a set-up without any central support.

Martyn said he would produce these as well as 4x6 and 6x6 roofs. This is what he has told me as far as cost (to the US): "4x4 roof cast in resin separate chimney also resin, all painted ready to use cost £5. We can send 2 in a small box for £6.50 airmail, that's a total cost of £16.50 delivered ready to use. I could also send up to 8 - 4 x 4 roofs as a small package @£5 each plus airmail post @ £22.00." He also said 4x6 roofs would be £7.50, but didn't quote a price for 6x6 roofs -- I assume a little more than that.

He said people can contact him directly at "pmcgames AT hotmail.co.uk" (change AT to @).

OK, that's it. I hope the info and pictures are helpful!
