I think I was confused about what you wanted. I thought you wanted trees, bushes, rocks, etc. to decorate a game table around the new Woodland set from DF. But those pictures you've posted are just small sculpted pieces? The detail is great, but I don't know how useful they would be, and yes, it would take some time to paint them, or some big $$ to get them done well professionally. Otherwise, Custom Kingdoms has a set of sculpted and painted trees. www.customkingdoms.com/products/Trees%20-%20NEW I don't know if that's what you want either, though.

I talked to Mike, the owner of Terranscapes. I should of mentioned this in my last post, so that's my fault. He is putting up many new pics on his site. He has also has been improving the quality of his items. The wait time will be less and I think he is also hiring help. His new employee will allow for less wait after you place an order. The ordering will start October 1 and he doesn't plan to shut down the ordering like last time. If you read his blog you will see he has changed a lot of things due to talking with a business consulting firm.
Whai I can't tell you from a first hand perspective is about the quality of his work. I'm in the market for my first order of terrain. I'm still trying to figure out who has the most flexible terrain and the best quality.

I really really want to order from him. I want his tree sets and most of all, his gladiator arena. And I love all of the stuff he does painting up HistArts sets. But even if he cut his delivery time in half, I'd still have to wait over a month for the order to arrive. I just cannot justify purchasing from him when I know there is quality terrain I can get sooner.

I have several houses from Custom Kingdoms and they are excellent. They are nicely painted (much better then MBA but you can not take your game inside them) and very sturdy. I should have bought more before the prices went up.

I think I found the answer, and I'm pretty sure no one will like it.

The Woodland set is hand sculpted, the only way something won't look out of place is for it to be sculpted and cast as well --

I think painting that much detail on any sizable area is called a full time job.

Those bases, including the naked dryad or whatever she is, are from Micro Art Studio in Poland. They have an ebay store and sell those PAINTED. I am considering getting some as accessory scenery for my Woodland sets.

Wow, that looks like it would fit in almost perfectly, thanks for the link!

What I want is something that looks like it fits in. This could be done with traditional scenery, but will it look right sitting next to the woodland sets sculpted trees and details? I'm not sure.

I was more talking making my own terrain from Woodland Scenics:

woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/index.cfm

Got a lot of ideas off of TerraGenesis:

Of course the real answer is for DF to make an outdoors set! :)

I don't count the new forest set as an outdoor set - its a tree house style set for elves/druids/beastmen.

Large 6 by 6 forest floor sections, bushes, trees, hedges, pathways etc.
Expensive but then again all DF is expensive. I'd still buy it.

Yes, I think that is exactly the answer.

When my business trip is over I am going to attempt to sculpt some prototype scenery to match Dwarven Forge. Not sure how it will work out, I can sculpt realistic lifesize human busts but I am no expert at miniature.

I love how beautiful & organic railroad terrain can be, but if I put my time in to this hobby I want the stuff to still be here when I am dead for others to use.

I took a break from work and spent the entire day on my miniatures. I managed to sculpt a dismembered body, I think I will be able to sculpt some terrain!

I also got some train trees from Woodland Scenics to go with my MBS, but I don't know how they would look with the Woodland Set. Pictures coming soon..

Citadel Wood box set is a genuine kit (70 plastic pieces to create three trees and a base), but it might fit the bill once assembled and painted. I'm curious how stable the trees would be without the included base, or if they can be put on alternate bases.
