Ship Boat - Sailing the Seven Seas
Ahoy, Mates! Browsing through the "Cool Photos of Dwarven Forge Sets" I noticed that whenever someone posted an image of a sweet pirate ship or boat interest was expressed. Aye, ye landlubbers! I would like to start an image "marina" where fans can post images and links to make it easier to find the perfect sailing vessels. Fuel the inner pirate or captain in all of us and post. Who doesn't like treasure maps and sunken treasures! Fun and adventure on the high seas awaits. Cheers

I found this paper craft ship. "Maiden of the High Seas" Worldworksgames. Anyone have any experience with this ship? The pirate kitbash looks cool.

I am also looking at this Caribbean Pirate Ship 37in www.handcraftedmodelships.com/pirates-of-the-caribbean-model-ship2.php
Any one understand the 1:68 scale and how it related to 25mm or 32mm?

I took a couple pictures from the DF forum. Does anyone have any info on these great ships?
Cheers

Grendel has a small boat and dock. Requires painting though. At least woodgrain plaster/resin is about the easiest thing to paint decently.

I put together the Maiden of the High Seas once. It was pretty awesome. But in the end I decided that, while it looked cool, it was a LOT of work for what is ultimately a paper model. And after more than a decade with DF on my shelf, paper just doesn't cut it with me.

It appears to be very difficult to acquire high quality ship models. MBA Is supposed to be coming out with a bigger ship this year but it still looks inferior to Tom's lovely boats.

Hi GoldenAxe,

Your 2 first pictures are from Camoudragon & Green_Knight. You and I got these pictures from an old 2 years+ post I bumped a few weeks back. I was hoping that its authors would respond but they did not visit the forum recently. Also, the third picture is from Tom and he unfortunately told me he does not remember where he got it from. Right now, I believe my best chance of getting a good-looking ship for RPG is picking the right ship on eBay, browsing the "Toys & Hobbies, Models & Kits, Boats, Ships, Wooden" category.
I believe hidden treasures can be found there but one has to be very careful in picking a ship that is the right scale (very important) and has good surface playability. I found the following once:

...but I did not buy it as it was too expensive for me ($200) but I believe that its quality was beyond everything I had seen yet.

What was the old mini of the flying boat with wings? And wasn't there an elven swan boat as well? I'd love to know what they were and who made them, so I can see if they still make them, or if I can find one in an auction, or maybe find a reissue.

Just came across this website and thought of you guys. I've never ordered from them before so can't give a recommendation. However, has anyone bought from them before?

The ships come unpainted: Old Glory Miniatures Shipyard

While looking over the net, I found one more picture of a beautiful ship that was for sale on ebay 5 years ago: community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75882/19310886/?pg=last.

It seems to be the same boats (3 different sizes available) as what Camoudragon, Green_Knighth and Tom have. These are not from: Old Glory Miniatures, MBA, nor Arsenale Shipworks. Also, since the paint job seems to be different, I would say they were probably supplied unpainted. If by any chance one of you would know which company was supplying them, please tell us!!!
