All,

I am curious what people are using to transport their collections, what type of case or storage are you using. Links or pics would be a huge help!.

Thanks!

Hi,

I never move my DF around because we always play at my house. I imagine if you go to conventions and such, the need would arise. Frankly, i never put my head on finding clever ways to transport my collection.

Using the original boxes would seem to be a good idea. They are sturdy and fit exactly the right pieces.

I'm working on a solution now. I like to take my Dwarven Forge pieces with me to conventions and game stores when I DM, and transporting it can be challenging.

I bought a large plastic bin at Office Max that is about 12" deep and 24" x 12" wide. I'm working on making some layers out of plywood to fit in the box, with about 2" between each layer. Each layer will have padded walls and a floor lined with felt. Once I have something put together, I'll post some pics.

Severeal years back someone in this forum recommended these 7-drawer craft carts. I bought one to start and now I have eight and except for the wheels, ARE GREAT for storing and transporting Dwarven Forge sets.

I promise, you won't go wrong with these. Find them at your nearest Target store...here's a pic of what the cart looks like.

dndgamer,

I saw this post, but that container looks awfully hard to carry and very flimsy. I am currently using two of the following containers to transport my stuff. Anyone else using anything like this?

Grinn, that looks very sturdy. How many DF sets can you carry in each one of them?

By-the-way, the one I have is a little bit harder to carry since I have to remove each drawer from the frame and place it in the car when I take it with me on Game Day. However, the drawers are made of plastic and unless you add padding to it a drop can cause your pieces to break. Also, the wheels are fine unless the weight of the drawers get too heavy for them and then they tend to warp.

Where can we find the one you have shown us?

dndgamer,

I actually just ran across this item in Lowe's and then Home Depot and thought it would be great. I've found another website that has it listed, but it just uses cookies and tells you what stores close by have them in stock.

milo.com/zag-usa-tool-organizer-1

I hope the above link works for you, it showed me that Lowe's hardware store by me has them in stock.

If you want I will take a few pictures of my stuff in the boxes. My only problem with the cases is the fact you cannot keep the 6" double wall corridors, 6x6 tiles, 4x6 tiles, 4 way intersections, and 3 way intersections. The right and left corner pieces fit in the top parts of the case and so do the round left/right corners.

The 6" one wall corridors will fit, and most everything else fits fine. My next project will be adding padding to the inside for some of the pieces.
I have between the two cases maybe 8 sets worth of smaller pieces, like I said above I am still searching for a case that will hold the larger pieces more securely.

Thanks!
