I have been wanting a few medieval building sets for about the last year.

For christmas santa is bringing me :
2 medieval building sets
1 medieval building expansion
1 ruins set
a bunch of the new pillars.

Was anyone else good this year ?

Jack,

Do you mean you are coming home from afar or you are getting a new
home? Either way, congratulations.

mm hard question but I must be french ah ah :

Santa already came to my home : I got my OGRE DEN ! 60€Was hard to find it but in 4 years I got every set from DF and some double sets. (DOE,Medieval etc)... and even SF sets !!
My fantasy missing pieces are ROTA secret door & ROTA colored hall but not for sale yet so my quest comes to its end and my stress too by the way !

So no wicked 3 set for X-mas ! May be next year if I can afford it.
I admit I prefered to buy 3 sets for a lower price to Morgar's company instead. I saved 200€ for the end of the year & I took the decision to buy the wicked 3 but the news of Morgar's company totally changed my plans :
I ordered 3 morgar's sets -> 50€ x 3 = 150€ + 30€ of other furnitures he did + postage & package = 180€ in total.
So yes I saved money since 1 wicked set at DF store is 110€ + 96€ of douane = 206€ ... However I still want the wicked 3 and I wait.
May be news from the euro distributor again ?
Would be a great x-mas news...
The bad VAT news on Portugal and soon France and other euro countries will ruin our hopes to buy DF stuff (23% instead of 19.6) by increasing terribly the douan tax. I already think about this since it's coming fastly.

Anyway JOYEUX NOEL à toutes & tous !
N-Joy DF.

I really hope Morgar ships his sets in boxes and styrofoam of the same high quality as DF. BTW - your post, albeit helpful to anyone interested in DF, may arguably not be that welcome to the DF admin in that it is using DF's own forum to advertise a competing product AND is even admitting that you forwent purchasing DF to instead purchase from an up and coming competitor.

Since there is no private message option, I answer here to Sorn.

I really hope Morgar ships his sets in boxes and styrofoam of the same high quality as DF.

If you're interested into his products goto their website to find your answer. No need to post the url, you will accuse me to make free advert again ! You also should google my nickname to see free DF adverts I already did for years. (in fact since 2006)
Fortunately I wasn't banned into another dimension for that.
It's about a dozen of forums ... and I consider myself as extremely courageous when I post topics about DF adverts on a 100% Games Workshop fanatic place you know ...

BTW - your post, albeit helpful to anyone interested in DF, may arguably not be that welcome to the DF admin in that it is using DF's own forum to advertise a competing product AND is even admitting that you forwent purchasing DF to instead purchase from an up and coming competitor.

That's your point of view and it belongs to you.
Mine is there's a question (this topic) & I answered that for x-mas :

-> no wicked 3 because of Morgar's arrival and I explain why.
-> I also say I want the wicked 3 and I wait.(cannot do both unfortunately)
-> Already got a nice DF gift for X-mas : the ogre den, something ultra hard to find complete and in good condition : it was new and unopened.
Check the photo I've posted again on this section of the forum.
It was one Tom (huge french fan no need to present him) found me.
Yep we promote DF products worldwide as a french strong community trying to help each other, to make huge orders or to get old sets.
We also encourage new ideas and have positive criticizes.

Let's take a look to the FAQ of this forum again then to recall all people :
Spamming through repeated posts, or off-topic content Commercial postings (postings that link to commercial sites for the express purpose of advertising, especially for products and services not related to Dwarven Forge or the gaming industry as a whole.)

Now stop talking about Games Workshop & Thomarillion products, D&D minis since they are doing furnitures and towers, dunjeon & ruins or other things that are competitive to DF products is a good point of view ?
What about hist arts products too casted in plaster ot resin then ?
Or custom conversion without DF authorization ?
Admin should delete all links mm ?
Nope. Gamer community is always promoting new products and everything can be mixed on a board. Fans and customers are always doing themselves promo in every forum throught the web.

I don't consider my post as "agressive" to DF line since I have bought all their sets (and several in doubles) and I am a real fan and always will be.
The products are still amazing, but true expensive. DF will always be the roll royce of the modular boards to me. The price of quality isn't it ?

Now the VAT news : it are euro news that american may not know or noticed.
It will be a useful help to DF to handle it before it will strike.
Our positive & negative feedback about price, quality, fees of postage & package etc are always constructive Sorn.
This year after crying a lot in many posts, Stephan & Jeff have listened their customers & fans and they offered us a new website, better shipping fees, a additional payment way. (a credit card not only paypal !)
They even explained us their personal difficulties sometimes, something you'll never see into another company.
That's why too I think it is normal I explain them why I changed my plan about the wicked 3 especially when I was the first to ask to Jeff "where's the preorder button?" talking about it after they had published some photos.
Imagine just a minute : I give counts to DF of my behaviour for this time !
But you're new on this board (9 posts) and I understand your position.

...Yep welcome on board Sorn you'll see this is a incredible adventure.
Don't hesitate and let us know what you think.

I agree with HeroQuestFrance.
In my humble opinion:

It's fine to talk about related non DF product. HeroQuest's post is in the context of being a mega fan who speaks positively about Df in other forums and who regularly posts piccys of DF.

As long as there is no attempt to claim "this stuff is better, don't buy Df" then I'm sure that DF, a well established premium product line can stand a bit of competition (as long as that competition doesn't try to rip off DF current lines).

As a European, I welcome the opportunity to buy some complementary products from a European source. It won't stop me buying DF!

I found an Ogre Den set on Ebay- probably paid a bit too much for one with a broken portcullis ($100ish) but I'm happy to have it nonetheless. Sadly, that will most likely be the entirety of my DF haul this year. My wife and I are trying to get pregnant and are hoping to buy a house within the next couple of years. So naturally, money is tight and so is our 2-bedroom apartment- which will hopefully get even tighter in the next nine months or so (crosses fingers).

I guess in the short term I'll be sticking to buying limited edition sets only to ensure I don't miss out and possibly some accessories when the opportunity comes around.

HeroQuestFrance, you make very good points. I stand corrected.

Regarding the French contingent, I am a huge, huge fan. In fact, I have purchased many items from Tom and Yansolo already. I am certainly keeping a close eye on Morgar's sets. You can be certain that I will buy some items from him as well. Just need his website to allow me to submit orders. I am hoping that I will be able to do so soon.

Just have to keep the wife aggro at bay.....if only she understood the addiction! But alas, my gaming habits still puzzle the heck out of her.
