One of my school boy dreams has always to own a car show room and cover the floor with terrain/minis. Ask everyone who comes in to take their shoes off and then PLAY!

Please excuse the following brag. Hopefully, you'll understand if you realize that for twenty-seven years I schlepped my wargames collection all over the world (my last security clearance showed, if I recall correctly, 36 moves in 40 years). I didn't ever get to unpack it all. When I retired, we finally built a house of our own, including - ta-da!! - a dedicated kriegzimmer (KZ or war-room).

I don't have a football stadium, but I do have about 1200 square feet of KZ space, including, for our group's gaming pleasure:
--Dedicated bar and kitchen
--Bath with shower, for those overnight games
--A 30 x 24 main room, whose floor is tiled with 2" green hex tiles...I claim (without any proof whatsoever) as the world's largest hex board...
--Cabinets containing 700+ board games
--Five "barracks" for my troops. They are scrapped US Government file cabinets, each with 88 flat 8.5 x 11" drawers, and about 70% of the 440 drawers are full of 15mm troops, micro-armor, 10mm troops, SF micro-armor, 1:600 galley and fantasy warships, 1:1200 ACW warships, and monsters in various scales.
--A twenty-shelf 1890's train conductor's form file cabinet full of 1:2400 (modern) and 1:1000 (Colonial era) micro ships.
--Nine map case drawers forming another table. These contain the laminated maps from my board games, and other maps used for campaign planning in all ten eras we recognize (FANtasy, ANCient, Pike & Musket, NAPoleonic, ACW, COLonila, WW1, WW2, MODern and SF).
--And best of all, two each 5 x 10 wargaming tables that are motorized and "fly" to the ceiling so I can use the supporting tables underneath for RPG gaming and other use, and still leave miniature games (and of course DWF dungeons!) set up between games without the house felion deciding to play on her own. One is geared to rise quickly, primarily meant for miniature games, and the other geared to rise gently so stacks of board game pieces don't fall over on ascent....
--The 18 x 18 (324 square feet) Smoking Lounge and Factory adjoining the KZ includes a 1000 volume military library and a Factory area in which models are built (sometimes mass-produced; I've just completed a super cheap LotR buy of 1000 figs, assembled, base coated and WUBS-ed** them in one huge run!). After games we adjourn there for, no, not smoking, that's not allowed at my place (I'm allergic to tobacco) but for a glass of port and some vintage BS about why we won/lost. The floor here is also hex tile, so we have a lot of naval gaming space. the Factory is home to the (locally, well, in our gaming group...) famed Lead Wall - twenty-four each sixty-drawer cabinets 80% full of 15mm and 6mm lead well, one cabinet of 25mm).

I know it's a brag, but I started gaming when I was nine, and I waited forty years for this place. Now I'm sneaking my 13-year old son into gaming via RPG's. He and seven of his buddies have started their first campaign, and DWF was one of the hooks getting him in, hence my sudden interst in it. He and his nine-year-old brother have also started their "really cool" Tyrannid army for Warhammer 40K. In fact, we've already had the first "those kids spent HOW much on stupid plastic bugs???" conversation with Mom. It's ok. They earned the money!

Thanks for reading. If I can figure the system out, I'll post some pics of the KZ and Smoking Lounge on photos. They are old, done when I was just unpacking.

If anyone ever heads out to the upper Midwest, email. I enjoy hosting.

**I explain WUBS in another post.

Head-on-out? Hell, I'm packing all my DF stuff, oh and the family too, and moving in!!! :D

You gotta post some pics after such a teaser! You having such a "Gamers" collection I can't imagine you NOT having swarms of people knocking down your door to play. Also glad you're getting the next generation involved -- it's what I'm trying to do with my son but it's not sticking, yet!

Post, post, post!

Oye, that place is where I saw my first concert!!! Boston, Eddie Money and Sammy Hagar ... 79 I think. Of course the buyer has to pay that 1.5 mil a year maintenance fee if they just don't want to demolish it.
