All

I thought I drop here a note in case someone is interested. I will be organizing some Pathfinder Society games at Dragonmeet. There will be at least two games for new players. There is still some space left - but maybe not much longer.

For more information - go to the www.paizo.com - Pathfinder Society boards -> Grand Lodge

I plan to bring my RotA sets along to use for the second game.

If you come to the CON but don't want to play - just drop by in the afternoon and say hi.

I will try my best - or should I say I hope my wife will do that for me :) I plan to have a decent camera with me - but I know from post experience that making pictures and being GM doesn't really mix. As my wife is playing I hope she will be in a better position to get a few photos done.

I don't want to give to much away to avoid any spoilers here. But I will use the painted room as well as all walls/corners of RotA 1 and 2 plus a few spare ones. I had to exchange a add a few bits from second sets - but took out other bits to ensure I 'only' carry two boxes with me on the trip. Not the best to take on a London subway ...

I also just received yesterday a shipment from Otherworld for a monster. It's assembled, based, undercoated and just got the first layer of paint this morning. I hope to get it finished tonight to a playable standard. Not easy to do that while my wife isn't aware. Seems to have worked so far though.

Welcome here. I haven't seen you much around - so I hope you enjoy DF. Are you a new or old collector? The RotA set will be used in the afternoon. I should be around all day at the table. Just ask for Thod/Jens. I'm playing a wizard in the morning and I'm the GM in the afternoon.

Oh ... I suppose I am an old collector really, with a very long gap. I was lucky enough to be at Gencon in the States in 1996, and noticed a small company selling excellent hand painted dungeon corridors and rooms. I bought four box sets, got them home and as luck would have it, my gaming group broke up two months later so never got to use them. I placed the four boxes in the loft, always meaning to either sell or give them to someone who might find a use for them. 13 years or so pass rapidly ...

My daughters are now old enough to be interested in playing role playing games ... and out of nowhere I find myself running a D&D game again ... luckily I remembered the boxes in the loft, and got them out to show the girls. They loved the look of them, so I was thinking of investing in a few more boxes.

Sorry - I didn't have much time yesterday - but my understanding is that my wife was able to show you a little bit more of the set. 1996 - that is quite a while back. Great to hear you got back into it. Yes - DF is like Lego - it doesn't really age. There is a lot more stuff out now. I'm lucky (or crazy) enough to have a full collection.
How old are your daughters? I tried a while ago here with my son and daughter (8 and 6) as well as a friends daughter (11). They had lots of fun - but lacked the concentration to keep playing for long enough. Lately they did ask again - so maybe I should start a new game with them.

Which side of London are you from? It seems to me - looking at the timing of the post and when I met you - that you can't be that far away? If you are more to the East of London - feel free to drop me a message here and I could invite you to have a look what has come out since 1996. You could even make it an outing with the family. I guess your daughters would like it as well - and we could even run a small adventure for them and my kids.

I'm in Deal - East Kent - unfortunately this seems to be nowhere close to any other gamers. I really enjoyed yesterday. I will put up some photos later.

Ahhh....memories....that was our very first Appearance in the world....we have since improved our overall quality...back in those days we cast in white resin before painting...we have now taken to casting all pieces in Grey color, in order to avoid small white chips on the corners which appear after much use and abuse....we have also now eliminated the bow tie openings on all our new sets as well....

Welcome to the boards Brother

@ Thod : Its ok :) I could see how very busy you were and your wife was very kind in showing me some of the RoTA pieces. My daughters are 11 & 8, lets hope they are old enough to maintain interest!

I live in South London so it was a quick journey for me up to Kensington, so sadly Deal is a long way away. However I travel a lot of my company, so if I am in the area anytime I will drop you a message and see if your available if thats ok :) I would love to see more of the DF stuff as the pictures look incredible, especially the cavern & lake stuff.

@ Stefan : Thank you for the welcome, Gencon 1996 seems so very long ago, but I remember seeing your sets and wanting them so badly that I had to pay for extra luggage on the way back to England to bring them home. I am glad to see your company has survived and thrived, hopefully at some point I will be in the States next year and can arrange to take another load back with me :)

You can reach me at jens add loesel add freeserve dot co dot uk or 07525-844487

Working full time and with two kids of my own I won't be around daytimes but should be in 9 out of 10 evenings. Just check whenever you are in the East Kent area.

Thod

PS: I should add - in addition to the original DF I also have some unique pieces made myself. Stefan just got the Lava done - search for Ice Cavern in the photo section and you should find a DF like Ice Cavern. There are also other bits and pieces I have done - mainly a while ago - so you have to go several pages down in the photo area. Another one I'm proud of is my Sewer Set.
