I've forgotten the name of the device that prepares food in Star Wars. Does anybody remember what it's called? :?:

Star Wars or Star Trek? In Trek it is a Replicator... Not Sure I remember any specific refrence to a similar device in SW?

Yeah there's a similar device in Star Wars but it's never mentioned in any of the movies, just books. For the life of me I can't remember what it's called so I'll just have to refer to it as "That Food Thingy" in the adventure outline I'm writing until someone can give me the proper name.

Ahhh... I Think the Only SW Book I ever actually Read was 'Splinter of the Minds Eye' Which was back in the Late Seventies, to be honest I do not even remember it...<Grin>... I Did Come across some web references to SW "Duplicators" in close association with ST Replicators?

Ah... MLV, you're revealing your age! ha ha... Don't feel back though--I read the same book during the same generation you mentioned so we're probably pretty close in age. ;-}~

HA! Just turning 37 here and also have the portable dinner tray. Funny thing is, since we moved, I've dropped 10 pounds and have managed to keep them off. Lots of walking to do in our town. It's a good thing though... right? ::grin::

As for the gray--I completely bypassed that shade and went straight to silver. I wear it proudly like a badge. Plus it makes me look downright handsome. rofl

I know that the toilets are called "refreshers." Wrong end of the process, I know, but I just like talking about toilets.

I think they are just called food stations, or cook stations, you only really hear about them on the Falcon... man Han has been so domesticated ;)

You never really hear about a Star Trek like item till Kevin Anderson got into the Mix with Dark Apprentice

"Food Synthesizer
any device which is used to create consumables from certain raw materials. They can be programmed to create almost any dish, thus making them compatible with many different alien tastes. The raw material used to create the food consists of certain starches, sugars, carbohydrates, and proteins. They can be built for residences, large restaurants, and starships. (DA)" CUSWE

Reason #123523508 why SW is better than Star Trek:

Nobody ever eats! (we're promised food in Bespin, but it's a setup! They shoulda been suspicious -- why? Coz nobody ever eats!)

(this was ruined, of course, by the prequels -- yet another way in which George didn't realize why SW was so great)

And on a related topic:
Reason #34623460346 why SW is better than Star Trek:

The only technobabble, really, is talk of "couplings"

Everything in the SW that makes things move universe is a coupling.

(except, of course, for motivators)
