The area around the CSIO is definitely the best threshed out. The sheer quantity of material is amazing, but it also delivers on awesome old school quality too. Have fun, I sure hope your players enjoy it too. I know from my experience on both sides of the DM screen that I don't really need another setting. Not for at least another 20 years of gaming.

A plus is that it is commonly accepted that Blackmoor is located to the northeast of the Wilderlands too, which expands your world to even greater size.

The journals of my old character Gorin Grimbeard all take place in Maps 5(City State) & 8(Barbarian Altanis) of the Necro Box. Peruse that again to mine for ideas in the area. Blair ran that game, and still runs the one I post here with the ragged band of hooligans in and around Map 10 (Lenap).

I just thought of another awesome aspect of the Wilderlands:

-Gigantic flora and fauna is commonplace and caused by gravitational anomalies. Perfect excuse to use that Colossal T-Rex toy.

My character is destined to find 2 ancient A-bombs. One for Harpspring, one for Valon. *spits*
Hahahahahaha! I just spotted this!

In the spirit of the setting I rolled randomly to decide where to start my 4E game. I couldn't have asked for a better place. There was a village with 2 rival silver mining gangs of former convicts, an evil wizard running the show, and a pirate captain in cahoots with the evil wizard. I had so many ideas brewing that the village of Harpstring just sprang full grown to life.
For me that is the very best thing about the Wilderlands: it inspires.

"A village of chaotic good humans led by a lawful evil elf wizard? And a ruined airship sunk in the nearby marsh? Hmmmm . . . " And my imagination was off to the races.
