Hi,
I hope I'm not committing a faux pas by 'advertising' with my first post.

Using a combination of 3D rendering, programming and high end design, we are creating a series of low cost, interactive e-Modules to compliment the DF ranges.
Each e-Mod will have a series of dungeons and will be either a selection of mini modules or 1 full module.

Our first stop was to contact Jeff with some images etc. In the true spirit of things, he's very kindly allowed us to use the DF name and 'textures' as long as we link and push DF appropriately - Thanks Jeff! That's a more than easy thing to do - We love the DF range and tried, a few years ago, to become distributors for Europe, but the costs were too prohibitive (not DF, but other 'added' costs - You know - Freight etc). In the end we just sold it online in and around Spain for a couple of years.

OK - We are at the point where the main infrastructure is in place and we're tidying up the text on the first e-Mod.

We have chosen to stay away from using any specific rules system (AD&D, D20 etc), because a). everyone has a favourite and b). we're not too keen on WOTC knocking on our door and sueing our butts off. SO we'll just be sticking with 'Generic' monsters with NO "THAC0" or "HD2+1".

We'd appreciate any suggestions and ideas as to what would work, for you, in these modules. NOt necessarily 'room contents' or a specific campaign, but more the 'little things' that'd make these e-Mods fun for you. If you check us out at www.lair-craft.com you'll see already that we've got printable overlays, 3D colour coded maps - to aid building, Printer friendly pages (no backgrounds and heavy artwork) and are looking to add sound effects etc in later e-Mods.

Once again, we'd like to thank Jeff for his suppport and we hope to compliment DF's great range of products with a fun range of interactive e-Mods.

Hi Arsthein,
Yeah, we're based on the Sunny Costa Del Sol! Typical Brits moving over to take advantage of the sun, sea, sex and sangria. Unfortunately, I also brought the wife - so it's just the sun and sea for me...

Currently, we're just offering the product in English, but if there is enough interest we may offer other European Languages too - but the translation costs for us are too prohibitive and we'd rather spend the time focusing on actually HAVING a product than 20% of something in 4 languages.

As a digital download, we'll be catering to ppl all over the world, but from our DF sales days, there isn't such big a market in Spain as there is in US or UK for DF and AD&D, as there is for say Warhammer (sorry to swear) which is pushed a LOT here. We ran an online store for a few years trying to sell 'other' stuff, we concentrated on DF, Ainsty, Heresy Minis and Alternative Armies amongst other - Different stuff. Most of the Spanish requests were - 'Have you got an Eldar Prism Tank?' D-oh!

Our mods will be very much in the old style of D&D. (Think Hommlet, Salt Marsh and Slave Lords styles). BUT won't have specific rules, as we think we may be infringing on any copyright by introducing obvious AD&D rules and regs.

Each e-Mod will have, not just the interactive dungeon crawls, which we appreciate may not be to everyone's taste, but also a range of maps and layouts, printable overlays and basic floor plans to augment the DF terrain (for example, our first e-Mod has some tapestries, and floor carvings that can be used over the pieces, we hope to also get a range of clients who can benefit from our interactive PDFs.

Ultimately, it'd be a nice thought to hear that you're all sitting down at your gaming tables with your DF sets at the ready and our e-Mods on your laptop screen turning those players into mush!

All the best.

Brilliant idea - as a graphic designer and game player I wish I'd thought of this myself!

When's the next module due?

Thx. As a graphic designer too, as well as an RPG buff (don't actually play very often now), I felt that it was a good idea too. We produce a tourism magazine and I felt that a combination of skills and interests might produce a fun product.

As for time - It's a mini module that will contain 4 'stories' and 6 maps (2 stories use multiple levels) along with overlays, room descriptions etc. We're about 1/2 way through the writing (the balance of time was the initial design and coding for some of the interaction). I'm HOPING to have it available within the next 2 weeks. I just need to get my brain in gear and think of some fun descriptions and evil traps as MOST of the dungeons won't be heavily populated with creatures because of the game systems problems I've already mentioned above.

Feel free to come visit our site, join our forum and suggest away. We appreciate any ideas.

L-C-Lord;

Hi. You may have noticed I registered yesterday at your site.
Looks good, and as soon as I get a new group together at home, I'll probably be active as a customer and as a supporter. I've created some DOOZY dungeons, using ALL the DF systems, so you can count on some truly "off-the-wall" modules and adventures from me - IF I can remember them! I have a bad habit of not writing them down!

Yeah - saw you there, along with a handful of others.
Thx for joining. It's hard to populate a forum in the early days, but, with a bit of luck we'll start haviong some fun times soon. :)

FYI everyone. We've ulploaded a FREE, simple 1 dungeon, 6 room demo showing just how easy it is to use the Lair-Craft e-Mods. It's not exactly rocket science, and We KNOW that there are heaps more impressive software doodads around, but for simple gaming, with an interactive twist we think they're pretty cool.

We're currently working on our first retail Module and have decided to revamp both the interface and to also turn it into 1 big adventure 5 levels, rather than a series of little 1 or 2 level dungeons. We're up to about 1/2 way through the text now, so with a little luck, we'll be out there in about a week or so.

At the same time, we're creating 3D versions of MORE DF pieces to allow us to createdifferent dungeons - We've already added some cavern pieces and are working on the Medieval Building pieces - Problem is we don't actually have any and are working from photos - lol.

Come join our forum or visit the site where we'll be posting a few more images of what we've rendered to date...

Cheers.

This is cool. I will be submitting a story or two to your contest.

Something that I want to do, if I ever hit a startup that lets me retire is sort of like this. I'd like to have software like this that also integrates into the full gaming experience (char sheets, dice, minis, everything) that runs on a big ol' Microsoft Surface-based table.

It would be the ultimate gaming table.

I like the sample module.

BTW, to whomever was using the Mac - download Adobe Reader 9 and use that, it works. Preview (the default) does not work well with it.
