Well i was off at my FLGS getting Scum and Villany and Demon Web had dropped as well, so i for old time sake grabbed two boosters of it, just t osee wht they were like.

At first flush some of them looked really nice sculpt wise, the drow guy i got looked good (even though i don't like drow) and a few others i was very suprissed with, at first. Then when i got some place in good light and really looked at them some of them just went Eck.
The Web golem is an ok sculpt but, it's what like 2-3 for a Rare? it's so plan, the drow while a nicce sculpt has no color at all on the mini. its whitem silver and it's cloak, the rest is the black of the mini, wow was i disapointed in the quality.
I was actually happy with the Spiral Demon thing, the pictures i saw from the poster made me think it would blow chunkcs, but when i saw it, i was actually happy it made an interesting "monster" if i wanted it to and not some 4thEd Demon. the Sarcophagus was actually Really well done, i was impressed the colors and painting on mine was very good, the detail was great, it makes a great stand up bit of scenery, i have to admit i want more, the poster did it no justice.
Did not get the Trap, or any Deathcaps, so was a bit sorry there...
Also out of the 4 figs i really wanted only got 1, of them, no Guard Drakes, only on Kurthik thingy.
The quality on the scuplts of the minis i got was actually pretyy good, even things i didn't like (quickling), but the paint was just non exsistant on so many, even rares.
I have to say that if this is the quality of DDM yeah it's gone so down hill. I have bo idea if i will buy any of the new line next spring, i looked through the MM and there were only like 8-10 things i liked out of the new MM, or things i would want. The new look of things just had turned me off. They could suprise me i admit (the runespiral turtle was a pleasant suprise) but i was far less suprised than disapointed with the current batch.

I think 4th Ed has killed D&D for me. I haven't played in about 10 months and not missing it at all, these minis didn't make we want to go play again. I hope Auggies or some other e-bay store puts up some of the things i want or i'm done with DemonWeb.

I really do not like 4th edition mini's at all. The whole art direction of 4th edition really turns me off.
Too bad, I would love to get more minis but have not purchased any minis from any of the 4th edition sets.

I ordered a case (addiction is hard to break) and am now having buyers remorse (before I have even seen them!)

GS - did you get either Sladdi? I had high hopes that the pictures did them justice and Kermit and his Red Friend could be replaced with more menacing looking Chaos critters....

I can't tell if it's because I'm getting sick of DDM, or because this set is genuinely unimpressive, or if I'm just sick of certain recurring types that I've now accumulated more than I need of, or if it's just that my interest in DDM correlates highly to the proximity of a recent DF release -- but for whatever reason, I've found it VERY easy to take it light this time around. Normally a new DDM set costs me around $300, when all is said and done. This time, I spent $50 on singles, picked up a handful of neato figs, and I think I'm done. Maybe in a few months, when DF comes back in swing, I'll want to grab those ogres and ettin and cyclops and a few others, but for now it was pretty easy to stop.

And I don't hate them or anything -- they seem fine to me. They're just... meh. I'm not inspired.

No Sladds for me either, While they look ok on the poster, i won't shell out for any i don't want them that baddly.

All i really wanted from the set was a few Hobgoblin Warcasters (or what everthey are called) for customization purposes. Loads of Guard Drakes, Deathcaps, Kuthliks, and a few of the other objects Armor, Trap, and Corpse, the Corpse after getting one, is out, it's just bleck.

I was looking over the MM for 4th and it came down to about only 8-10 figures i actually "WANTED" to get from it, so the new semi randoms will actually not be a draw if they really are things from the MM, there is almost nothing from it i want. So if i get any it will be from the secondary market... if there is one.

Now the Star Wars Scenerio packs i bought two of the new one, some nice figs (yeah it's the like 5th of That version of Grevious i have, and the same with Mace, but then i buy alot, and others don't so i;m nto complaining, and with so many, i can actually custmize one of them with out feeling bad. A cool new brand new Unique figure (the Ithorian Jedi) and some others you can only get in the Scenero pack, add in a new map and some Huge's and these are nice. So far they are keeping me interested in SW, can't say that with DD.

Sweet! That is so cool!

Reasons I'm happy about it:

1. Bacta tanks are kewl.
2. It's an uncommon, not a rare. That means I can get several.
3. Repainted, it would be AWESOME as a column for DF. I could see it in red, green, grey, sandstone, gold. I would paint the tubes as vines, maybe put some flock on as moss... .super super SUPER kewl.

Interesting - are they using clear plastic for it? I can't quite tell...

Could be useful for my Ptolus game....

"Besides, no commoner merchant is going to resemble my amazing NPCs. I give them vivid descriptions, personality traits, even draw pictures of them sometimes. Ozalam Zaharr the Prince of Merchants and his llama the King of Camels? His stained leather vest, his elf-slippers, his hook-nose, his greasy hairy chest. Going to come through a lot more vividly w/o a miniature."

Actually, that would be fairly easy to mod and paint up. If I didn't have

10,000 other projects on my to-do list I'd love to mod up Ozalam Zaharr with his camel.

The hooked nose could be modeled with with some greenstuff and both camels and llamas are available. The stained leather is easy to paint as is greasy hair and purple pants if needed. Elf slippers might be a slight challenge and might end up as green boots, but I'd argue that such a miniature would be even more vivid than merely a verbal description if you have any "visual learner" types (like me).

Of course, this wouldn't happen with pre-painted plastics, but with a paintbrush and some paints and greenstuff this could be whipped out easily in miniature to bolster up other mundane NPCs.

I wouldn't mind seeing commoner NPCS for the mundane types. For unique NPC's I paint up by hand and mod.

MBS is golden for setting up a seedy pub, having a mangy dog out front and even a sleek dancing girl along with a purple garbed Jikor the Gnome bard selling her services... I'm not done painting everything, but that type of layout is more than a diorama... also with enough tables you can lay out things like the town while moving to other tables to adventure on. Neat stuff... watch for some pics in late March...
