... .

If you want a more skirmish wargaming slant to the boards, bring the players in :) They're all a very friendly bunch round here. And the more the merrier

... .

Sorry lupus, but we are already here.
Quietly, the wargamers have already infiltrated your lines, sapped your redoubts, boobytrapped your armories and are ready to completely take over your world here.

Not all of us register; some just enjoy partaking of the cool ideas that surface in the forums,
For some that is enough, but for others there finally comes a time that we feel that we have something that needs saying.
It also helps when one gets sick and tired of how some other forums one has been on turned out to where one has time to be active elsewhere like here.

Granted lupus, the RPGers are the common Master Maze users here, but there have been wargamers, some quite outspoken, here since the beginning.
The most outspoken wargamers on this forum that come to mind are RabidFox (who got derezzed for what some would call his over the top enthusiasm for Master Maze - in fact I believe he was in the first 50 registered users of this forum before his erasure - his posts are mixed in with the many other "Guest" postings from years ago) and RabidFox* (who got banned for his very blunt and forthright, but no-nonsense and sometimes impolitic approach).
I believe both even worked in the gaming industry from what their postings indicated.
There have been several other wargamers I have read here in the years I quietly enjoyed this forum; most have had wonderful ideas that I have incorporated into my engagements.
One was a guy (sorry, but I cannot remember his nomme d'guerre here) from Florida that years ago shared with all of us the most incredible Master Maze builds; he was a true Master Maze artist.

Anyway lupus, wargamers are already here.
I hope that is not a problem.

I too miss the Golden Age of the Invincible Overlord. So many of my builds have taken bits from his.

Harbringer, it's funny to me that you'd think to bring up Rabidfox of all the posters on here...

I guess there were no other posters that went on such extensive diatribes.

Harbinger please.
Thanks!

Why would it be funny?
He was a wargamer, as I am, from what he wrote, and he was not afraid like some in gaming to ask for exactly what was needed and so forth.
I actually spent some time reviewing his and RF* postings among several others this last weekend.
Yes, RabidFox and others could be blunt, but there was a lot of truth in what they had to say.
I guess there were no other posters that went on such extensive diatribes.
You have not read the "Chronicles" {the two plus year old postings} much here, have you?
The biggest bombastic person I have read here was a person called "Mighty Zug".
As far as diatribes, especially ones against the makers of Master Maze, "KenM" is the main culprit.
What I read is the Foxes were not willing to stand for fools and attacks against themselves or like-minded individuals based off of alleged warm, fuzzy fluff that was in no one's favor except those who just wanted to just be along for the ride.
So no, those were not extensive diatribes in my view; in many cases, I read vicious attacks and/or hasty, illinformed judgements of several folks, counter defensive actions in return by the Foxes and others, some even in the in-vain rear guard category like the Song of Roland and then the fall or departure of persons who really held Master Maze and gaming in general in great esteem.
Reminds me of many Japanese folk stories; the heroes always die by the end despite all of the good they do.

Have you even read the posting RabidFox wrote here on how to have a successful game shoppe?
It will explain to you and all why so many shoppes you spend hundreds, if not thousands of dollars at, still go out of business.
It makes so much sense that it could not have been written by the fool so many here like calling either of the Foxes or any other similar folks.

Then again dudebird, that is just my take on what went on here.
Shake hands?

I've been on here quite some time, if not posting, lurking for ideas. I had a boring job at a computer during the era you refer to as the "Chronicles". I was entertained for quite some time by Rabidfox(*).

Your way of writing reminds me of him.

Of course it must.
I do not deride him so I must be him, right dudebird?
That means JimK from Balitmore must be one of the Foaming Canids by that standard too, right dudebird?

BTW, that slight/attack against folks is not new here, is it dudebird?
Been used repeatedly by some against some they do not like according to the Chronicles.
The worst situation I read of this was when one lady here a while back spoke in favor of some of the things the Foxes said.
A surprising number of folks here chased her off the forums with a complete and total assault that she must be one of the Foaming Canids.
Death's Left Hand was her handle.
Remarkably, that was even after brvhrt and a few others from down thataway told the attackers right and left that they knew for a fact that she was not one of the Foaming Canids because they had played games with her in the past.
Shocking.

Oh well, the conspiracy nuts here can have their bone to gnaw on, but let me ask a question dudebird.
Were not both of the Foaming Canids just sci-fi players?
Read me and see the inconsistency in my gaming habits with theirs.
Jumpy, are you dudebird?

Oh well, I admit that I am definitely an acquired taste; even my wife when she first met me said to herself, "Who would date/marry this guy?", then she married me a year later.
I will not strive to curl your sensabilities too much dudebird.
I will still be me though.
Asking anyone not to be themselves is terribly impolitic of fellow forum members though.

dudebird, try to leave the joy buzzer and itching powder at home next time, ok?
We will rub along much better dudebird if you are not trying to zap my hand and pull down my shorts every time I come in.
Cheers.

Umm, "... entertained by ... " and "Your way of writing reminds me of him" don't seem like an attack to me ... and certainly not warranting of the tossed gauntlet.

Let's try to reign it in and not be "jumpy" before things get out of hand, please.

Harbinger, dudebird;

WOOF-WOOF!
One Foaming Canid, reporting as ordered, SIRS!

No, I'm not, and never was, RF* - although he and I shared many a "gentlemans debate" here, and I DO know who he is, up there in the wilds of the Pac NW - IF he's still there. I haven't heard from him in a l-o-n-g time. I miss him, too, sometimes; he could get...ballistic, sometimes, but he knew his stuff.

I started out as a BattleTech gamer and got temporarily dragged into the Warhammer 40K world, kicking and screaming; ran away from it into RPG ASAP - but that's where I got my Mad Yank moniker, on the WH40K Usenet group. I once told some dingaling there that I was one angry American that didn't think much of Gav Thorpe and his company's prices, and within 24 hours I was tagged as the Mad Yank. So here I am.

Mike the Invincible Overlord inspired me to design and build my multi-level setup platforms; he glued his spacer legs on, I drilled mine out and put threaded inserts into them and I can screw them together. It makes it more portable, since most of my gaming these days is done at Shore Leave, a 3-day convention held every July here in Baltimore. I haven't run a game in a couple of years, but I used to run a pickup game on Friday, the big D&D game on Saturday, and sometimes a pickup game on Sunday - IF I was in any shape to after Saturday night's conclusion!

I guess due to what I have read here before, it sounded like attacks made here before, especially like the contention that was heaped upon Death's Left Hand.

If this will situation goes no where from here, I would love just to discuss all of our fun with Master Maze instead.
Thank you for the hand Myrthe.
