New Minis up on the Wotc page, the Sith Maruader looks nice, the look is straight out of the Games.

The ASN droid is funky, i like it for the fact it is medium Uncommon Flight Stand

I like the FU "Mynocks", flight stand-ish, for the DF cave. They look great in the DF cavern pieces.

Yeah, i like any of the flying things really from any of the two line WotC puts out, but i got to say i like critters in my SW and D&D, and i like droids as well. That swoop bikers from way back are great as well.

Anything that is suppossed to be off the ground, and is actually off the groung (not on some rock etc) i really like when they pull it off nicely, the bat from DDM but not the recent fire bat, i don't like the trail of fire.

I dunno... I wasn't that impressed with this KOTOR set in the preview. The sculpts/paint jobs look like many of them might be on the inferior side, like so many in the Alliance & Empire set were. Good to see more Sith (the trooper sculpts in the prior set were kinda sucky, IMO) and more Mandalorians (noticed one was female, but they need an obviously hot female Mandie and just plain more hot females across the board that aren't all VR or jedi/sith). Can't believe they are wasting space with even one Jar-Jar/Gungan!

I just picked up that Dark Hellion swoop bike rider and he is a kickass sculpt/paintjob. Don't play the Minis game often but good for Fringe to finally have something this mobile. Weren't the Dark Hellions the gang in the KOTOR CRPG on that first Sith-occupied planet you crashland on?

PS: Did you ever finish your KOTOR campaign Guide Part 2?

In honesty the paint jobs in any set don't bug me. Te biggest bug in the last few DDM sets has been the really poor detail in the sculpts. This set does not seem to have that problem, as detailed as any other SWM set. I like the variety of "trooper" types for Sith, Mandy, even a few Old Rep.

I am glad they are doing Jar-Jar, as well as some Gungans, gungans were my next wants for some of the loads of back ground stuff after Ewoks (still want ewoks), Tuskens are a want and they have a few of them leaking out all the time so i don't have then high on the list (another in this set).

As to where the Hellions are from... i rememebr Bekks as one of the gangs from Kotor... can't think of the other...

I got really close to finishing it, but then they changed over to SAGA, and i didn't start on Saga till a short time ago. Depending on what has been done in this book i may do some more work on it. I have been playin the second game for a while now. I did it once (unlike he firstgame i did 3 times male, female LS/DS and then tried to stay gray, and playing this game again DS is very differenti got to stuff i never got in the LS (background Mandalor, HK50 conversations), but it just underscores so much of the stuff they cut.. Sigh

Drat! I was hoping you'd finished it. Your KOTOR guide kicked ass. Any chance you could send me a copy of whatever you have done for the 2nd Guide?

I tried playing 4th Edition D&D and it was too much like a video game--wrong direction for me, and I was more or less happy with 3rd Edition, but preferred the grim-n-gritty Conan d20 RPG rules. Saga appears to be much the same way as 4th edition so I've been avoiding it. Frankly, the only thing arousing my interest/curiosity in Saga Edition is the new KOTOR sourcebook and a burning desire to do something with my SW Minis and DF Sci-Fi Sets again, LOL.

I actually ditched D&D forever in favor of HarnMaster by Columbia Games, which is a level and class-less d100 fantasy rules/setting with a ton of detail and uber-deadly combat rules. I was thinking about adapting the Gunmaster modern-day HarnMaster rules set for Star Wars--to create a grim-n-gritty feel where every combat could be your last and diplomacy or stealth are always your best option. I don't think Saga would be a good fit for my campaign style...

I know what you mean about 4th, and i was leary of Saga untill i played it, one of the reasons i tried 4th was after enjoying Saga. However i have played some 4th and we are months into out SAGA game, and it is very true in that Saga is really 3.75. You can see a lot of the directions they were taking towards 4th but it is not the full blown 4th. I don't like 4th but i do like Saga, is it perfect no, but Neither was the RCR. They fixed some of the big problems of the RCR. I did like Would Points, but i have to admit WP killed the last campaing i ran under thr RCR. A player got very un lucky and crit a twice over two rounds. I gave them the option of just loosing a Body part on the second crit instead of dying, but they were being a bit petulant, and decided to kill of the character instead. It was near the climax of the campaing and it just fell apart after that.

However That campaing is something i think i will drag back out after the Kotor book comes out, and Finish it in Saga and RCR. If you are following the DoD Campaing from WotC it was something done very much in that idea a 0-20 level 3 Arc Campaing... I really enjoyed it. (It's the one that was posted on here about 2 years ago).

I will likely pull the Second half out, after i read over the new Kotor book, i have been having fun with the Computer game, and i have to admit while playing it i was thinking of how things would stat out. I Will make Stats for any of the Minis they malke (heck i have done it for about 75% of what they have out now!) So don't give up hope.

The thing I love about HarnMaster is it is the anti-D&D: it is skill-based and there are no hit points, no levels, no classes. Anybody could try their hand at just about anything with access to the right training and materials. It's just so much more flexible. Everytime you use a skill (successful or not), you get a chance to improve it after each session (cookies every session? That rocks, LOL!). You roll your skill vs. your opponent's and compare success levels on a matrix to get the result. Wounds result in injury levels based on location, and the severity determines how many dice you roll vs. your Endurance to stay conscious (or alive). Psionics, spells, encumbrance and combat induce Fatigue which give you penalties to your rolls. It's a simple and elegant system once you get over the initial culture shock coming from d20.

I can't imagine ever playing any version of D&D again after making the switch. That's why I'd love to do a Star Wars/sci-fi version of the rules. Then I could just plug all the other setting info in and have a complete game. The problem is statting all the NPCs, weapons, armors, vehicles, etc., not to mention starship rules. The RCR version was decent and based on your opinion, Saga probably is too, but I just can't stand classes, levels and hit points standing in the way of my creativity. Of course, there is something to be said for hitting the "easy button" and saving myself a ton of work, LOL.

I heard the Dark Side had no more penalties in Saga. I never liked the idea of physical deterioriation from it (reminded me of the old 1e D&D Lankhmar rules for black wizards).

How compatible are the old RCR books with the new Saga rules? I have almost all of them.

As for Compatability... not that much, but neither are my old WEG SW books which i keep around, and some times bring to the session for background. You could convert, and i do, but maybe about 50-60% compatable.

I tend to stat a lot of stuff out myself anyways, i kind of enjoy it, so if something was not created or Stated in some core book, i have no problems doing it myself. I admit i do like to have a few things for refrence as in if X should be tougher than Y... but even with out that i can still do that...

I have to admit i liked the old school deteririation, back when all we had was the OT, but with Seeing a happy go lucky Palpy and how he got the way he is, does make it kind of go Poof...

but that's another issue...

As a Side note....

From
www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/4dnd/20080814

October 2008: Clone Wars, a 40-figure set and new starter game, featuring characters from Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie and television show (such as “Yoda on Kybuck”).

In 2009, there will also be exclusive map packs.

February 2009 will see the release of Imperial Entanglements , a 40-figure set that includes “Dark Vader, Legacy of the Force” and focuses on Episodes V and VI. Look for more Expanded Universe characters in that set.

June 2009: Jedi Academy appears in , featuring Jedi masters and padawans across all eras (and with lots more Expanded Universe characters).

Ghengis, what did you think of the new WotC KOTOR Campaign Guide? I skimmed it today at my FLGS. Hated the bland comic-booky artwork (almost all by the same artist) but the content looked pretty good; definitely has some info your KOTOR Guide didn't have (different planets outside the KOTOR CRPG, for example). Still not as thick or comprehensive as I would have liked, but much meatier than other Saga Edition books. How are you liking the new KOTOR Minis?

Getting it today, do to shiping somethings my FLGS didn't get the book on Tuesday, and it didn't come in till yesterday, to save a trip i am going to get it tonight when i am only about 10 minutes away from the store for the Thursday game night, so won't be able to comment till later, as i will be getting it tonight and then off to a game.

The first book i did yeah had a few planets, the second one had a bunch more, like 50% of it was planets from the whole era, incuding outside the Games like Serreco, and about 4-5 others you get kind of just names for from the era, and a lot form the old DH comics and WEG KotOR. So i'll see what is there and with possbily more planets done in a more detailed style (ie more than the tiny little blurbs in the SAGA book) i might finally put out the rest of the stuff.

As for the minis, i like what i have gotten so far, a bit annoyed with "Case packing" issues this time, got not only many of the same rares in the two cases i got, they Both had the annoying problem of each case had two boosters with the same R in it, So while it didn't always double up across cases on some of my doubles, i got two that doubled within a case, very annoying, and i got my first miss pack in a Long time (wasn't missing a card but got two of the same rare card in a pack, which will be annoying, as well i don't have three of that figure, will likely take the best card and put the extra some place far away so i don't trade away bassed on card numbers as my collection is in about 3 places in a few months i can see myself asking do i have 2 or 3 of these....

I like them enough that i have been thinking about over the weekend doing a BIG set up, my problem is i can't Decide What to set up, i have Stacks of Gama, waiting to be used, and piles of minis waitng to be used... with just so many options... so i can't decided what to create, in the end i just may have to do more than one....

:)
