Once again McFarlane has given us a REALLY cool monster -- this time, it's a sort of armor-clad purple worm mutant.

Personally, I think the armor goes too far -- there's too much of it, and with all the spikes and all, it gets a bit "busy" and overwhelms the coolness of the basic monster design. At the same time -- what a monster! Giant slavering fangs on both ends, claws, a sickly pale hue... this is a funky creature. I love it.

I'll probably (almost certainly) get two and repaint one of them - when I eventually post more pics, you'll be sure to spot him tormenting people in caverns and in the DoE...

Talk about a coincidence ...

I just picked up Ares yesterday (saw Gemini but didn't like it).

I'm going to repaint Ares to make it a little darker ... it's perfect for a giant Demon to make the adventurers soil their armor :D

Oh, here's the link ...

They also have Taurus (a Minotaur) and Cancer (a Crab Man).

Ah so these are finally out i think i remember these from like Jan/Feb.
I liked Cancer better, it just looks so DARN freaky (but then i was thinking more Sci-fi) but Ares looks liek he could be a Really Big Devil.

Ares works as a huge devil, and Cancer works as a kind of demongod, too (Lovecraft-esque, or for GW players a kind of Slanneshi thing)

But I really like the Gemini creature, personally -- for one thing, I have to admit I'm a little put off by the whole "it's a giant" way of making things that are in a different scale work at 25-30mm. Gemini, however, is not readily recognizable at any particular size, so it seemed like a more natural fit for DF.

For people who like titans etc., there are a ton of cool McF fantasy men/ogres that would work as titans/giants/avatars/etc...

unfortunately the rest of the Zodiac series, at least what's been shown so far, looks a LOT less impressive than these first four...

Some years ago, I picked up some funky 3-headed Spawn creature from McFarlane. I figured it would make a great Oni for L5R, and could be a right nasty menace in D&D as well.

I think Gemini would give my players the creeps, which is always a good thing IMHO!

From what I hear, McFarlane has some pretty nifty creations upcoming at 38 studios (www.38studios.com/)

Can't wait to see what the crew at 38 studios does for thier upcoming world... especially with the crew they have on board (McFarlane, Brett Close, Curt Schilling (the Red Sox pitcher) and RA Salvatore).
