Reaper's pre-pained minis, nearly a year later 4 Years, 10 Months ago
I have seen them mentioned a few times on the Miniatures page used be some, as the whole DDM random package (even if they are planning to buy singles) turns some people off and they won't buy anything for that alone, so the two years ago when LE was first announced many people were all over the Skeletons, and Orcs, for various fantasy games, and having seen a few of the GW matches over at the TM, I never noticed movement trays or even miniatures all stadning up in fantasy, people would just kind of shove them around, if they fell over they fell over (i might be wrong on the trays I never really paid attention).

But look at me as an example I don't wargame at all, and i know loads of "wargameing" miniature producers, becuase I like minis. Si i can see many knowing about Reaper in general.
While these aren't as cheap as a DDM, they are cheaper (or were) than many of the metals at the time, like any GW, even GW plastics.

And there is a specific wargame that Reaper has basically a captive group for that thinks anyything they make is gold, Reapers very own Wargame, Warlord, these are all offical proxies for that game.

I would have thought I was the target audience, but i don't know anything obviously as I think what they have made is good for a maybe a 1 time purchase, or none at all as over it's just so common and so cheap to get these elseweher.

It's either got to be wargamers, or some ultra brand loyaltity, becuase it is still so easy to just buy DDM singles if you don't like blind packing. I put in an Order today to Auggies to get me my new D&D mins, and they were Orcs, and Goblins in the lot, got way more than i would have at Reaper for the same price.

Hey .... look what I just saw (for whatever it's worth) ...

"Reaper Miniatures is proud to announce the creation of a new miniatures company: Asylum Miniatures.

Asylum Miniatures is an independent company wholly owned by Reaper focused on the creation of pre-painted miniatures, games, and associated products.

Under its own banner, Asylum Miniatures will launch with and supply the Reaper Miniatures pre-painted plastic line Legendary Encounters™. Asylum Miniatures will also pursue the development of products and lines outside of the Reaper Miniatures core brands.

Offered in an open, non-blind, non-random format, Legendary Encounters™ pre-painted plastic miniatures will be packaged in Asylum Miniatures blister cards. Both single and multiple piece packs will be offered.

Asylum Miniatures will continue to draw upon Reaper's vast miniatures catalog of thousands of metal models to expand the Legendary Encounters™ miniature line.

From Ed Pugh (CEO of Reaper Miniatures): "This new company solves several problems Reaper has been facing concerning the creation, marketing, and brand awareness of our pre-painted products. Allowing Asylum Miniatures to operate independently of Reaper Miniatures will give management much more flexibility to create, market, and supply pre-painted miniatures, games, and products."

Asylum Miniatures -- what you need, when you need it!

Reaper Miniatures is a worldwide leader in the design and casting of metal science fiction and fantasy miniature figurines. Based in Denton, Texas, Reaper products are available in fine hobby shops around the world.

For more information about Reaper Miniatures, visit the Reaper Miniatures website at ReaperMini.com."

While the "will also pursue the development of products and lines outside of the Reaper Miniatures core brands" comment intrigues me, I'll wait for Reaper to stop playing a shell game with Legendary Encounters and finally pull a cohesive miniature line out from under the cup. Mind you, I'm not holding my breath.

Interesting development... I think I will go poke around on the Reaper page while my gel runs and see what I can scope out about this.

At the least I can get my pointy stick out and poke reaper.

Although with the upcomming Legendary Evils Huge set from DDM, and it's Totally scewed packing scheme There are "common" minis going for over the LE price. That could "help" Reapers LE, and hurt the DDM LE.
