So with the new movie coming (which, sadly, I seriously doubt will be any good) and lots of toys coming, I'm really excited about Indiana Jones lately -- and it occurs to me that DF is absolutely PERFECT for a classic Indy adventure layout. We've got caverns, traps, dungeons, even an evil temple. Classic pulp stuff.

But while I'm sure there MUST be minis out there for this, I just have no idea where to look for them. Any help?

L,

There was a DDM figure with a torch that could be modified with the lovitar figure's whip a few sets ago. The same set as strod the vampire. He was a tomb searcher or something. i would do a mod like that but well.... I do not have time any time soon. Although I want to help now.

TSR put some out when they were doing their Indy RPG. Not sure if you'd consider them "good" though. The other box sets TSR put out in those days weren't the best quality if I remember correctly. I did a quick search on ebay and found these...

Try the following link. It has a review of Pulp era minis.
'
wk.frothersunite.com/sc/pulp/Pulpsc.htm

If you look under the Copplestone casting sections, they have a picture of an adventurer with a whip and pistol which could at a pinch be used as Indy. Granted a lot of the pulp figures are probably more WWI figurs, but if you drag out some of the more generic adventurer figures, plus perhaps some of the generic (non-uniformed) 'natives' you might have an adventuring party there. Copplestone's ranges as discussed on the frothers site would be great for your basic adventurer party

With regards to Germans, there are a number of companies that will produce 28mm Germans.
- Foundry
-Artizan

Or go to www.brigadegames.com When I last looked at the site, they had a number of different companies under that banner, and there were a few WWII ranges.

Personallly I was looking for the Weird War stuff :) Zombie germans, spectral germans, werewolf :) All cool stuff

To answer my own question - there will be!

www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/previews/latest/50008_w_2

He comes with head and arm variations, so you don't have to make him look THAT much like Indy if you want a slightly original look. And one of those variants is holding a whip (extended) so you can also make him all the MORE like Indy.

Can't wait. With all the IJ hype around the new movie and all the cool DF stuff we have... and I have that Ark from Crocodile... man, a sweet Indy setup could be done...

Law,

Don't forget the em4 Dunwich Detectives series either. I know that they are really more of a Cthulu sort of mini but I have always felt that there was a vague connection between the Indy universe and that of Lovecraft. There is also a new "Old West Heroes" set that has a couple of potentially useful pieces.

Also, I would point to the recent HorrorClix Freakshow and Nightmares sets from WK... Several of thier minis have that pulp feel to them, and the less rare versions can be found in the secondary market for reasonable prices..

Additionally, and also produced by WK, are the MK minis... While many are way too fantasy in nature, there are a few interesting critters out there if you look hard enough. One of my favorite secondary market sources for singles is Troll and Toad. Many of their commons tend to be priced around $0.50 a piece and I have had good fortune in requesting notifications of restocks on sold out and OOP minis.

Happy hunting...
