Someone may have mentioned this already, but I love that this sets version of a phalanx soldier is:

a) a Halbadier.

and

b) Has his weapon protected by a piece of moulded plastic to keep it from bending in all kinds of bad ways!

I have only purchased two sets so far, just wanted a "Taste" to see what I would get... I must have pulled some lame drafts... I am not at home soThe only mini's I really liked were:

1) Phalanx soldier...

2) Female zombie (strahd?)

3) Goblin archer (mostly for variety, the paint is minimal)

Everything else was just sort of average, and I did not get any of the mini's I was hoping for (Rat swarm, Bat Pseudo Dragon, Vampire Slayer, Torturer)... But then I only purchased two packs...

maj!

Ok, I had to revive this thread because I forgot where several people were talking about the scale increase. So anyway, I got my Unhallowed stuff, but geez, the Vampire Hunter and High Inquisitor or so "huge" meaning they are larger than the standard human plasti-crack figure. I put the vampire Hunter next to Han Solo, and the Vampire Hunter is like a freak'n giant. What the heck is going on here? The other stuff is cool like the werewolf Lord and the strahd zombie. I REALLY don't like this weird scale increase. It is just plain creepy. :(

Dungeoneer, I try to keep in the back of my head, "O.k., so in "real" life, people come in all shapes and sizes, so why not in the gaming world when it comes to minis?" Then I put a couple three or four minis next to each other and say, "Oh, yeah, *that's* why" as I look at the grossly overformed hands and weapons of the larger minis next to the ones that are more consistent.

It's not so much a difference in "height" per se that is the problem, it's the overall scale creep that makes newer figures stick out like a sore thumb.

It's funny, I noticed this recently, too. I was comparing the Cormyrean Wizard to some older minis, and he just looks absurd. It isn't just that he's taller -- he's clearly BIGGER, he's clearly in a different scale.

It's a shame.

Scale issues have been a problem with DDM since Harbinger. The Ogre was way too large as was the "farmer".
