Hi Guys, I've found this new miniatures from Sota toys, and I'm pondering the option of taking these for games. The Dagon is Awesome. There is some Dagon Demon Lord in some D&D Campaign World that would be amazing to put on the table like this. Even Cthulhu would work great as "Great Deep Spawns Lord", or Lord of Aquatic Demons... etc.

Somebody has any of these? they are not expensive, but I would like to see the texture and material closer to see the feeling it creates. What do you think?

Those are very, very cool. Not quite "miniatures," in that they are about as large as the McF dragons, but just like those, they are good for scale with minis.

I have the Cthulu, and it's pretty great. The paint job isn't perfect, but the detail in teh sculpt is extremely well done, very textured and funky, not smooth boring plastic. There is even a little articulation in the arms, and the tentacles are bendy.

I'll try to get some pics of Cthulu up.

Oh, and incidentally -- I have a black version of him, done as an exclusive through a particular distributor. If you want, you can find him at www.bigbadtoystore.com, and a few other places probably have him also. I got mine locally, and on sale, too, so I only paid $10 for him. I think the black is a better paint job than the green, which is a bit too asparagus-y for me.

Woooh! Thank you very much for the info L! please post some pics! :-D It sounds like a winner to me... I was afraid of that smooth plastic look you speak of. Anyway, I think I'll carry on with the green, because black... well, it's very very nice, but... he/it is not him/it, if you know what I mean...

About the term "miniatures" that I've used, I've noticed it after my edit and thought "oh man pass". My English is far far far away from flawless... ;o)

Greetings! :-D

I picked up the Dagon today -- had originally passed on it, but with all the DoE stuff filling my head, and all the demons I've been painting lately, it had to happen. And at $20, it's a bargain -- even the Reaper stuff isn't this cheap, let alone GW! It doesn't really REQUIRE painting, but I probably will touch it up a little bit. The paint job as it comes is pretty sub-standard. I'll probably take some pics of it before I get around to changing anything, though.

Yeah, I picked up the Dagon at a brick-n-mortar store -- Newbury Comics, for those in the New England area.

And I get the feeling they're running low, if not out entirely. I checked the Harvard store, they had 3 Cthulus and a Ghoul. I checked New England Comics in Harvard Sq, they had two Cthulus and a Ghoul. I checked Govt Centre Newbury Comics and they had 2 Cthulus and a Ghoul. Finally, I hit the Newbury St. flagship store and they had 1 (dusty) Dagon left.

So that leaves a few in my area -- the one in Alewife, 1 in Framingham on rt. 9 -- that MAY have one, and there's the NEC in Allston and 1 in Brookline. These may all have it still. But given my hunt, I doubt it. I feel like I just made it under the wire -- which is a relief, since I passed on this when I first saw it a few months ago, and I'm very, very glad I found one.

Oh -- and on that "April" date... these have been out for months. My guess is that they were originally due in April 06, but then got pushed to October, and showed between then and November. I do recall there being a delay, and that sounds about right. It also makes the SOTA site, appropriately, about a year out of date...
