I haven't heard any additional news regarding the release of expansions yet, if that's what you mean.

From what I've heard though, the game has sold very well...hopefully the creators will be announcing their plans sometime in 2008 (just speculating here).

I'm hoping!

Well expansions are ALLWAYS cool but I mean how does this version go as far as the others. Worth getting it? I have third and at one point had the second with all the trimmings. Just wondering if this is worth getting this one?

Yeah, I definitely think that this version was worth getting! The quality of game parts were highly improved upon -- especially with the beautifully colored game board, the high-gloss adventure cards and the detailing of the gold coins. To me, the improved quality in game parts justified my purchase. The only gripe that I have with the new game...and it's a minor one, is with the LIFE, CRAFT and STRENGTH counters. They are now little "squares" instead of the easily visible cones that were used previously.

Just so you know, the game itself was unchanged as far as game-play from the previous version, so if you are looking for changes in this area, then you should shy away from buying the new one. I'm a HUGE fan of the game and it was a must-purchase for me :)

This edition is the best version -- just use your own character models for the player pieces.

I hope this helps...

Yeah it helps. I would really like the board! I saw the many many pictures on Boardgamegeek and some one there posted second, third and the new forth edition boards next to one another and I had no idea that board was that much bigger " and nicer ". Another picture showed where they painted the square plastic Strength and Craft markers on the highlighted section and it was much improved. What I really liked about Third edition was the way you can get experience and kept track with the purple cones. That way you can get credit for going in the cave and getting that nasty dragon!!! I imagine I could just house rule it in and maybe even keep the Third edition characters " modified if need be ".....You know. an alternate wizard or warrior and all.

I know exactly what you mean, whitewind. I have incorporated "the cones" with my 4th edition play and I use the mini's from the older sets as well. Here's the 3 reasons why YOU should buy 4th edition (...and I'm not a salesman).

1) Game-board was greatly improved -- both visually and in size (beautiful colors here!).
2) Adventure Cards are much higher quality now -- Previous versions had cartoon-like art on the cards. The new ones provided here in this version are high-glossed and the artwork is awesome!
3) The gold coin tokens are of a higher quality and have a detailed Talisman logo etched into each coin (pretty cool!).

You should pick one today! :)

The first thing tomorrow " if my FLGS has that one still BI claims to be sold out " The board is a big seller for me and yeah the cards look great. I am just really hoping that they put some expansions out for this one. I not only want to use the mini's from 3rd edition I want to use the cards. I know I'll probably have to make some modifications to the abilities but I can't think of any right now.

Well our first game with the new version.... My daughter and I played for about 4 hours till we finished it but it was a teaching game also. We wound up playing the thief " me " against the Prophetess.... Well she won as you can see in the photo's. Love the board and the gold was awesome. The cards are far and away better more engaging artwork. We did not do word for word rules. We used the cones in 3rd edition and I used the purple one's for experience that we used 5 equals a turn in for a str, crft, gold or life.... Also when you got to the COC you just won the game. I happened to have the actual prophetess mini from 2nd edition " wanted to add it to my third edition characters. I used a recommendation from Boardgamegeek that said a DDM Gnome Trickster would make a good thief and it did..... Well here are a few pictures....

Whitewind -- I'm sorry for the delay here, but I just got back from business travel.

I'm glad to see that you picked up a copy...Great pics!! It looks just like my set-up, with the exception of the beautifully colored table-cloth. *laughs* It looks like I may have to upgrade mine.

I'll keep you posted if I hear anything reagrding expansions. Thanks again for sharing the pics!

~Cheers

Thanks, the place def has a woman's touch and I'm glad for that. LOL. We played again. Seems ok to blend old and new characters with just a few mods, especially the thief.

Well if this just does not beat all!!! Now Black Industries is not going to do the Talisman game. Pick up one if you want one sooner rather than later. www.blackindustries.com/?template=BI&content=newslist&newsitem=350
