This is a combination question and challenge for modders.

This is a minor scene in the old Jim Henson movie "Labyrinth", which features a very cool stone chair carved to look like it is made from massive tomes. That would be a neat thing to have in various set-ups -- it's a good seat for a mage or a wise king, and it could be a magical chair that increases a character's INT stat (or knowledge skill in a particular area) as long as they remain seated.

How would each of you go about making something like this?

Wow... depends on what scale you're talking about. First thing that comes to my mind is a set of Reaper treasures... there is a large stack of books--compared to a 28mm scale miniatures, the main book on the bottom of the stack would be about 2' by 3' practically. If you got a couple of those sets (three maybe? four?), you could razor saw them off of the stack and use them to bulid out the "throne." I think that would get you really darn close to the picture above.

As for what figure you could seat... Well, Rackham has an excellent wizard called "Misan the Clairvoyant" (hope I spelled his name correctly--too lazy to google it right now). He's not quite as old and scruffy looking as this one but he'd make a good figure to be seated on the book throne.

Oops. I was unclear. I am very interested in the throne, not at all in the figure in the seat. (But I looked up the Misan figure, and Dante is right, it's a great mini.)

As for scale, I can go a couple of ways. The chair might be true to scale and fit in a single 1" square, but I can also see doing it so that the seat itself is large enough to put a miniature on (to put a miniature "in" the seat).

jack -

Short of scuplting the books from scratch, I think Dante's got the inside track on this one.

Sounds good to me!

See ya!
