I just came up with a rule for the Monday night game...

If you have a weapon skill/proficiency, you can throw that weapon at HALF your skill/proficiency value, without having to buy an extra skill/proficiency for thrown weapons in general. This lets knife-fighters (and axe-wielders, and so on) throw a weapon "in a pinch", and allows the fighter to throw his sword at the bad guy with a decent but not great chance of success.

Of course, if your hometown team has a bye that week, they get DOUBLE strength next Sunday. If they play this Monday, then next Sunday, they are at half-strength also, as a result of the short recovery times!

Am I bad? Or just a Troll, as I got labelled (libelled?) on a different forum page? By the way, I asked in another post here, but maybe you could help; what IS the definition of a troll? Maybe I AM being one and don't know it!

See ya!

Oops.

"The Monday night game" is medieval fantasy roleplaying, using a world and rules system created entirely by our GM. I am still trying to like the percentile-dice mechanics, and the skill system that requires three or four skills for a rogue to have competency with traps (not to mention an Armor Proficiency skill that makes it mathematically impossible overcome the penalties involved in wearing any kind of metal armor), and the attribute whose sole function is to reduce skill levels across the board.

The proposed mechanic is not meant to be affected by, nor restricted to, the day of the week, time of day, or location of your game.

A troll, as I understand it, is anyone who regularly posts primarily for the following purposes:
- increasing his/her post-count (to elevate "status" on a board)
- inspiring (or inciting) responses to increase the length of a thread (especially one he/she started)
- starting a flame-war

I don't think that's you, Jim. While I would have preferred some mention of whether the proposed rule is sound or useful, you were making a joke about the admittedly awkward language I used in the first sentence, which I suppose might confuse... someone.

Thanx, jack. You cleared up something for me, and I figured out that my disagreement with the prevailing view is what got me labelled.

See ya!

So your monks give you a chance to roll that old D30 that you've had lying around forever, eh?

So where do you get a D24? I know Lou Zocchi made some weird dice, but I don't recall ever seeing a D24. Do you roll a D12 and a D6 (for high and low), or what?

The player rolls an actual d24, actually. :)

You can order some unusual dice, including the d24, at AdvancingHordes.com. Here's the link to their dice section.

Enjoy! :D
