I thought it was pretty awesome and I paid $57.50 shipped on eBay. Between eBay and Half.com I usually pay half to three quarters of the list price.

Well, like I said, I'm glad you like it. I certianly don't want to tell anyone they shouldn't. There's a big fight (on the interweb? how ODD!) over at the WOTC boards -- a lot of people are pretty angry about it, many of them saying (and I agree) that it wouldn't be an issue if WOTC hadn't specifically said the price would be higher because of the extra paint apps). Others are saying what you said -- they're perfectly happy with it and it looks neat to them.

I doubt the price jump had anything to do with "painting", on the 22nd just about Everything is getting a price hike, the SW and D&D minis go up, both huge and regular packs, (as well as magic if you play that), i know the RPG books aren't going up, and can't remember if the A&A minis are or not.

But there is a general price hike in the work by WotC it might just have timed into that...

Eh i'm getting a free one so i can't complain at the price :D

GS -

How are you getting a "free one" ??!!! What do you have on someone at the WOTC Shipping Dept ???

I do agree with L to a point ... that point being that I bought one anyway. Yes, WOTC botched the "awesome multiple-step paint job" big time ... to the point that I was inspecting every dragon that my FLGS received to find the one with the least objectionable paint job (notice that I did not say "best"). My love of Dragons tipped the scales to the "gotta have it" side as opposed to the "damn, this is crap for $75 and isn't at all what WOTC promised ... Curse them !!". I don't mind the overall anatomy? No ... would I have designed it differently, Yes ... but there are enough dragons and styles out there that I'm not bothered by it.

Oh well, I'm glad I have the "Icon" and it does look cool in my hobby room. And my 3 yr-old daughter thinks he's "cute" with his "horn" (the flame spout). Behold, the mighty wyrm "Red-Guy" as she's christened him :)

Er... well i can't say... whistles and walks away....

I looked at it down at the Time Machine in Manchester and was like wow so that's it, darn wasn't that impressed by it. It's nice to see what collosal is, and when it finally comes in i hope it scares the crap out of the other collosal we use on occasion (one of the house cats).

And I probably should add, I'm still going to get one as soon as I find a decent price. But when I do, like everyone else who gets one for a "decent price," I still remind myself that getting it for 30-40% less is still paying a lot more than I would have if it started at $50. A lot of people are talking about grabbing it for between $50 and $65 and that's great, but it should have STARTED there....

Ah well. I LOVE the look of the Blue Icon that's on the way....

I agree there, too, L. I never would have paid full retail !! I'm still thinking of adding some of the paint steps that WOTC seemed to have forgotten ...

Yes, the Blue looks great !!! Hopefully they won't jack the price on that one, too !!

GS, does your current "Collossal" have a working breath weapon? The "Tuna Plume" or something more sinister ?!!! :) You could always sprinkle catnip over your player's miniatures and let the random attacks begin !!! :D

GS' "Collossal" has a permanent effect, "Cloud of Sneezing" -- save vs poisons or be incapacitated with runny nose, watery eyes, and uncontrolled sneezing. [;)]

The problem is most of the minis are mine, so no catnip or i destroy my own stuff.

While it has an area attack it's not so much a "Breath" weapon as an er... other end weapon.

It was amazing in the game i just left, it walked into the middle of the fight, and layed down, knocking over a few trees, but it left two of the remotes standing, and all of the minis, and just layed down and played with one of the terrain bits....

Where have you guys seen pics of the Blue i haven't seen any yet?

The blue can be found here:
i32.photobucket.com/albums/d23/Galahor/bluedragon1.jpg

Looks sweet! Can't wait for better pics.

Actually, I found the CRD for a decent ENOUGH price, and I caved and picked it up. I stick by my list of cons, but here are the things to like about it:

1. It's freaking huge -- dwarfs the McF dragons.
2. I like the head sculpt.
3. I like the wings.
4. It can be painted.

And I do intend to do some work on it to fix it up, but before I start, I have to ask -- everyone who has this, does the lower jaw of yours have any teeth? Mine, I realized, looks odd in part because there are no teeth on the bottom jaw. It almost looks like it's been put in backwards, since there aer all these spines on the bottom of it. I need to paint the teeth on the upper part, but that might look REALLY odd if I dont' put in some teeth with green stuff on the lower jaw as well. But maybe it shouldn't have those. I can't make up my mind. Soooo... did I get a bad one? What's up?

L your #1 is the main thing i like about both the Gargs and the Col, it Really, Really shows you what "collosal" is in D&D terms it gives you a real sense of scale. It's one of the things i like about the D&D line in general since they are designed by the company to go with their games they take care to scale things the right way for the most part.

While i am not a Huge stickler on scale (i use Micro machine stuff for SW all the time, and use some oddball things as well that aren't in the exact scale) if i can find the right scale i'm much happier. And this gives me a nice bench mark for what to shoot for in both Garg and Col.

I already have the Mini i am using for the climax of the SW campaing next month, and now i can judge if it's Col or Garg, and stat it right :D

I'm not sure on the teeth, but i think i remember looking at the ones in my FLGS and noting something "wrong" in the mouth, it looked very odd open like that and plain, so you could put the fire in, and that may well have been it there were no teeth in the mouth...
