Anyone know of a website where I can buy grendel miniatures that's based in the US? I've found a couple but they're all based out of the UK. I'm trying to avoid the high shipping costs if I can.
This stuff looks like it would work great with DF setups.

Hi Max -
Discounthobby.com "has" them but they're "temporarily unavailable / awaiting restock".
Sorry I couldn't be more help ... anyone else have a source? I'd like to get some, too.

Discount Hobby is my source as well. And you're right, 'awaiting restock' is their normal state of affairs. I think the problem is one of slow production out of Scotland.
Did I say slow production?
I've seen turtles flash past Grendel when it comes to high-speed anything!
That is the SINGLE reason why I have started to agree with RabidFox* about DF doing Sci-Fi furnishings and accessories.
At least, 99% of the time, when DF is slow, it's because Stefan DEMANDS high Quality Control.

See ya!

Make that 3 for Discount Hobby. Johnny has always provided fast, friendly service there.

You could try eBay but I have to warn you about "MercMinis" (or "MercsMinis") out of Eastlake, Ohio... he sells knockoffs. Mass produced in his basement and re-bagged. I found out the hard way when I picked up some pieces a couple of years ago. He's still on eBay. Everytime I do a search on Grendel his name/listings come up.

Grendel seems like they've had a resurgence over the past few years. When I first started collecting their stuff back in the early 90s, people thought I was nuts for buying those "big weird looking toys". Now you can't get them 'cause they're selling like hotcakes.

Order direct from the Scotland HQ or possibly a retailer in the UK is your only choice these days.
From what I have heard, there has been a shake up in the leadership at Scotia-Grendel.
New leaders want the whole pie, not just a piece.
Sort of what Ground Zero Games did to Geo-Hex over their figures back in the late '90s.
Cannot really blame the British manufacturers as the wargaming "boulder" gains momentum in the U.S. and Asia, there is far more money to be earned off of direct North American and Asian sales.

Scotia-Grendel's WEB page for Grendel is:
www.scotiagrendel.com/grendel/index.html

On the other hand, we could all encourage Stefan to finally crank out the Sci-Fi furnishings set Gamma/Delta.
That is along with the additional Sci-Fi floor pieces set Delta/Gamma.

Awright, RF*, make up your mind!
Is it Delta/Gamma, the Floors set, or Gamma/Delta, the furniture?
You can't have it both ways; one or the other!

Well that stinks. But I do appreciate the help.

One last thing, does their stuff go well with Reapers "heroic" scale minis (that being 28mm, not 25mm)? I was thinking about getting some of their bridges and maybe that dwarf tower thing if it's scale.

Max, I've used Grendel stuff with everything from "true" 25mm to 30mm and I've thought it all looked o.k. I'm not into matching scale *that* closely and everytime I've run a game at a con, I've had nothing but very positive feedback about how well everything looks together.

The Grendel stuff is actually a bit inconistent itself with respect to scale FYI. For example, some of the tavern sets look like they're suited to "true" 25s but the Bazaar set looks more suited to 28-30mm "heroic" scale as you put it. It's weird but sometimes when I look at some of their pieces, I notice that. Does it bother me? Nah. Not at all.

I'd say if you can find the tower, pick it up and try it out. If you really don't like the way it looks, paint it up nicely and sell it on eBay for three times what you paid for it. Add a bit of static grass (i.e. vines) creeping up one side, weather it, etc. etc. etc. People will snarf that thing up in a heartbeat.

I think he means that Gamma can be either floors or furniture, as long as Delta is the other (or vice-versa.)
