I was just curious who is going to Gen Con this year? Maybe a bunch of us should meet up at the DF booth to drool over the mystery set and harass Stefan and Jeff into a few tankards of ale to find out what DF has planned for 07! I know I am looking forward to meeting OL and several others on here who post frequently. See you there!!

As stated in the previous thread on this subject, I'll be there Thursday through Sunday for the whole con. I'll be in disguise as a 6' tall, 290 pound hulking gamer named Thomas.

In real life, I'm a 4'5" Dwarf with a salt and pepper beard and white streaks through my hair, and a black furred cat's paw with silver claws in place of my right hand.

The lifts in my boots add the extra height, and the rest is all magnificent acting. I have most of my friends and coworkers convinced, but some are starting to suspect the truth.

I'm getting in on wed. and leaving monday. I'll be at the DF booth at 10am on the 10th picking up ALL the mystery sets (just kidding, only 4, well maybe 8). This is my first GenCon and I got 2 sets of True Dungeon tixs as well.
Also doing the LEGO Pirate Wars, Build A Foam Weapon Workshop, and Iron Dungeonmaster 2006. And of course as much D&D and MagicTG as my wife will allow.

Every year, a buddy of mine runs a Delta Green adventure. DG is a modern day Cthulu style late on Saturday night till the wee hours of Sunday-a way of ending Gen Con (usually with everyone dead or insane). It's a few of same guys every year and a few pick-up players. Last year, we found a great conference room that was left unlocked until the janitors showed-up and scared to poo out of us. We got booted out of that room and finally found a reasonably quiet area.

So, if you don't have anything scheduled for Saturday night and enjoy a good game, let me know and we'll figure something out.

Hi Gang!

I posted elsewhere that Sandy & I will NOT be coming to GenCon after all, due to money issues. Well, as it turned out yesterday, it's a good thing we changed our minds and canceled the room.
Yesterday afternoon, I'm sitting there in the living room as the temp in the house climbs through the 80's, and I hear water hitting the floor in the kitchen. After a hearty "WTF?" I go out there and find the water dispenser in the refrigerator is - pardon the expression - peeing on the floor! I dunno whether the humidity in the air due to the dying A/C froze the valve and cracked it open, or if the valve just malfunctioned, or what, but I had to turn off the water line to the fridge - which was a gymnastic event to challenge Nadia Comaneci, especially at 5'7 1/2" and 225! - before the kitchen floated out the front door! And the service contract on the refrigerator lapsed @2 months ago. Hmmm...
And THEN I discover that the A/C has lost the refrigerant charge again, which means $800-plus to replae either the coil or the entire outside unit. Which the service contract will NOT cover (it might cover labor, but NOT the unit itself).

SOMEbody up there does NOT want me coming to GenCon!

Maybe next year - if the house doesn't fall down!

Sorry I'll miss you at GenCon. I was looking forward to meeting you in person. As for the tight fit on the plumbing problem, I can sympathize. Replacing the sprayer for our kitchen sink turned out to be a task better suited to Mr. Fantastic or the Elastic Man than me. If you've ever seen Tank Abbott in the UFC, picture him with all of his teeth and you have me. I'm fairly agile and flexible, but this would have strained the abilities of a yoga master.

Brace yourselves, guys.

Talked to the BGEHome guy Friday afternoon. Because the unit we have now is a Freon-based system, if the refrigerant loop gets fully vented, and air can enter the system, ANY residual Freon will, unless the ambient air is VERY DRY (which, if any of you know the Baltimore area, "ain't bloody likely!"), the humidity in the air will combine with the Freon and 'mutate' into acid! This does BAD THINGS to the entire pressurized system, and ALL the plumbing must be replaced.

After the $1100 instant rebate, the NEW Heat Pump will cost $5501 installed.

Fortunately, fresh water and ice through the door of the refrigerator is NOT a required system in the house - although it IS a very nice amenity. So the fridge can bloody well wait until we have some cash - sometime in the middle future! And, the oven control panel is covered by warranty/service contract. Phew!

All in all, guys, it's no wonder we won't be at GenCon this year.

Thanks to all of you who have comiserated with me about this series of ..."Unfortunate Incidents".
