Has anyone here bought from, heard from, or otherwise have information about RPGSHOP.COM?

I'm wary of buying from them....because:

1) There are at least a dozen web sites with different names that are all linked back to these guys (rpg.discountgames.com, rdinn.rpgshop.com - just two examples).
2) Each states that they do not take phone calls.
3) Each lists an address of 4631 S 108TH ST GREENFIELD WI 53228
4) That address shows up on Google as GAME UNIVERSE, 4631 S 108TH ST, GREENFIELD WI 53228, PH 414-427-8800
5) No one answers the above phone number when I call.
6) Each web site states that it is owned by Minion Development Corp..
7) A nationwide search of the Better Business Bureau (search.bbb.org/) does not have any information about ANY of the above companies.
8) The web site cart systems allow me to put 99+ of everything in my cart, including some very hard to find DF stuff. I find it highly suspect that these items are in stock.
9) No one has responded to my e-mail inquiries (the only contact method they list as viable).

If any of you have ordered from these sites, please let me know 1) when your last transaction was (approximately) and 2) how your transaction was executed/handles/received.

Thanks for your input people.

Their forums (on rpgshop.com) seem to indicate similar problems -- I would personally be inclined to play it safe and NOT order from them. But that's just me.

Hi guys. I Did order from them about almost a year ago. I will not do again, I'll tell you why:

I asked several times by email for a couple of t-shirts (about sizes) and they answered they did not have it in that moment. Then I made an order for several items: dice, t-shirts, dice bags, and some more. The checkout process asked me what action take if an item is not in stock. I selected, wait to recieve it to have it in stock. Other options were to take it out the order and refund the money, or even send the items available and send a second order when the out of stock items arrive (paying another package shipping costs).

Well, when the order arrived, there were 2 items missing, and no refund was made ever. I send email at least 3 times before I gave up, because they didn't even answered, and that was the SAME email account I wrote first time, and the answered me twice. Now suddenly they didn't answered my questions, and I've got to say that I was very polite and kind, asking simply for an explanation of what had happened.

A couple of months later, having no news about them, I started recieving their newsletter. Simply amazing. A month ago or so, a friend asked me if I did knew something about this online shop, and I told to him. He showed me several shops with different name but the same logo, and suspicious gifs in buttons, exactly the same in one web and another.

That's been my experience with them. I will never order again, and I'm very sorry, because the rest of the stuff that did arrive was great and they had in the web several great t-shirts I'll never have because I've not seen them in another online shop.

Only my experience, this is.

I have ordered from RPGShop before. Ordered about 4-5 different orders from them and never had a problem. I haven't ordered anything in over a year from them, since i have a better FLGS, but when i forst moved and was looking for a good LGS i used them, but it was some time ago. (and when i did order it was rather generic easy to get stuff nothing that would should be out of stock).

I use an associate site rather frequently RPGNOW, but that is PDF's etc so there is a big difference in stock etc.

Delurking.....
I have never ordered from them but Games Universe is my FLGS now that the other store I went to closed. It is a legitimate brick-and-mortar store. Here is their website:
www.game-universe.com/
It mentions their affiliation with the other sites. Any problems ordering would probably be incompetence rather then some attempt at fraud.
Hope this helps.

I have never ordered from RPGShop, but I have bought eBooks and other items from its companion-WEB-shoppe, RPGNow.
I have been ordering from RPGNow for about three years and have never had a bit of trouble.
I have ordered many items on several occasions over that time so they have had many opportunities to screw up, but they have come through with flying colours.

Plus, the real time customer service has been exceptional!

As far as RPGShop, all I can do is wish you the best.

I've also ordered from RPGNOW, but have never ordered from RPGSHOP. RPGNOW was great, although I really hate paying for .pdf's. If I don't have any luck with them I'll gladly use RPGNOW.

I've ordered from rpgshop (usually enworld.rpgshop.com, which kicks back a fee to enworld, which I read for D&D news) several times.

Usually, no problem. Last time, there was an unreasonable delay on my order, and they canceled one of my items; when I asked, I got an answer, but it blamed their con schedule (not acceptable) and their distributors (more reasonable).

The item that got canceled was from Kenzer/Necromancer, and Kenzer is apparently pretty lax about keeping things in stock/updated.

So, one somewhat-bad experience out of several. I'd do business with them again.

I've ordered several times from RPGshop and apart from a few orders that were mysteriously cancelled (without financial impact), I haven't had any problems. Now, I will tell you that a game designer told me one day to avoid doing business with them. It was as much to sell items through them than buy from them. Out of professionalism, this game designer (that I won't name because of the same professionalism) didn't want to actually tell me the reasons, but I trusted him.

You take that story like you want. I haven't had problems with them, and the stuff I wrote sounds a lot like "I heard from a friend of a friend of a WotC employee..." Your call.

Thanks all for your responses. Thanks to L for pointing out the rpgshop.com forums. There one can plainly see other customers resorting to posting on the forums about their negative experiences just in an attempt to get some sort of response from the rpgshop.com staff. My two e-mails in two weeks have gone unanswered. As much as I'd like to believe that the hard-to-find DF stuff is in stock and would ship to me, I don't think I want to chance it. If I did order and it failed, I could turn it over to the (FBI?) internet fraud division and/or could let my credit card company take the hit (standard protection with this CC), but, it's not me to make my credit card company pay for the mistakes of someone else (sellers). So...the wisest thing to do is to not order. I also don't need to stress and anger having to deal with this company would provide me. Sigh. I'd really like those hard-to-find items.

Thanks again one and all.
