A policeman friend of mine and I are looking into painting some 25mm - 50mm scale French Foreign Legionaires. Problem is... all the minis we can find available are more in the "historical" category as opposed to a Legionaire you would meet today - y'know: Raybans, beret, FAMAS, modern uniform and tattooed arms.

Any help from some of you Grognards, modern gamers and Sci-Fi enthusiasts would really be appreciated. Any of you Euro-dudes have info on some too?

Merci beacoup-

Mes Amis Francais!

La Legion?

Now THERE is a great idea!! Anyone (Tom, Stephane) have any ideas for a source?
If you find them, I will buy them - at least a platoon, possibly more, depending on price, and whether they pass YOUR standards of realism.
Carnivore, perhaps we should cooperate on a buy; get Tom or Stephane to pick up a BIG order and ship it to someone of us here, who could then break open the package and distribute them as ordered?
Maybe, if we asked them REAL NICELY, Jeff and Co. could act as agent?
How 'bout it, Jeff? Huh? Huh?
Aw, c'mon, pretty-please-with-sugar-on-it?

Oh well; it was just an idea.

See ya in Indy!

Here at the Foundry:
www.wargamesfoundry.com/collections/OW/17/index.asp

You can try to go back to:
www.wargamesfoundry.com

And choose "Europe" to find the "Foreign Legion" (Make a Search) on the website.

If you are looking for Sci-Fi figs with a Foreign Legion look, I must direct y'all again to Ground Zero Games at
www.gtns.co.uk/store1/commerce.cgi?product=SGF&exact_match=on&cart_id=4043493.11466
They are the only ones that make figures like that in a sci-fi format that I know of.
I posted some of the pics I have of these Sci-Fi French troopers from back when Geo-Hex was still around.
They are here on the forums:
www.dwarvenforge.com/dwarvenforums/viewtopic.php?pid=13612#p13612
You will have to compare the fig you see in the pic to the description at GZG's WEB page.
Sorry, I cannot do any better.

Plus, let me apologize for the paint jobs; they were not done by my wife or myself.

I saw the Legionnaires over in Cool Photos; unless I forget (not a difficult thing for me to do), I'm gonna have to get me some of those!

Thanks for the tip!

See ya!

Those are pretty cool RF - thank you.

I may pick up some of the historical ones for myself, but the cop buddy is looking for modern specifically. Those Sci-Fi ones may do... I'll have to ask him.

JK - if one of our Euro friends has a source, I would gladly buy a platoon or 4.

BTW, Camerone Day is this Sunday (April 30th), so tip a beer and speak French to somebody.

I respect this day due to an officer in the Navy I was under who, after his commision was up, joined The Legion and later died in 1998 or so. He was a good man. On Sunday, I drink for Lt. DeFreece.

Your welcome carnivore.

"Legio Patria Nostra"

Do not forget Dien Bien Phu either carnivore.
Defeats for the Legion are just as important as victories, possibly even more important.

Camerone Day was actually a defeat for the Legion as well - but if the time ever comes, I hope I die half as well as Lts. Marcel, Villain, et al. Talk about BIG, BRASS ones.

In case you wonder about how I know of Camerone Day, ask Jerry Pournelle.
Or, if I tell you that my BT merc unit was Falkenberg's 'Mech Legion, will that 'splain it all?

See ya!

Peter Pig makes a line of contemporary FFL minis (armed with the FAMAS) in 15mm for the AK-47 Republic skirmish game.
