There have been a lot of chats about Grendel accessories here, and I am a big fan of them.

Thing is, I used to get my Grendel stuff from Johnny over at Discount Hobby/ Dragglestown/ Mega Miniatures. They started to get REAL slow about restocking, and now they've removed all Grendel from their website, saying "restocks coming" (as it has said about some products for years)

Is Grendel OOP now?

Where do people find their Grendel? Mail order, preferably... ;) I really want to pick up a few pieces, like the tavern kitchen (my A #1 priority), the village bazaar, and a few other assorted fantasy goodies.

Yeah, i had problems with Discount Hobby and the really slow restock rate of Grendel (which i don't think is DH's fault i think it is Grendel), so when i bit the bullet and bought some of the Grendel/Scotia stuff i ended up getting the one remaining Grendel Sci-Fi i wanted. The Floors and Doors set.
I had to go over seas to get it, went with Spirit Games, a UK company, but even they had to back order/restock one items (one of the G/S) before it shipped.

So Grendel might just be taking a heck of a long time.

I did a Grendel fantasy order from DH, it got here almost before the charge hit my credit card! The next one was Grendel Sci-Fi, and I got lucky, because it was the MedLab and the Cargo Bay. Since then, everything I want seems to be Out of Stock!

Hmmm...

See ya!

You can order the stuff directly from Scotia-Grendel in Inverbervie, Angus, Scotland across the Net at:
www.scotiagrendel.com/index.html
Americans and the non-European crowd get hit with a bit of a S&H fee, but all's fair, right non-American orderers of Master Maze?

Thanks, RF, I hadn't thought about ordering direct. I suppose it's only fair that I pay some S&H fees now, since I've avoided them (or minimized them, to be more accurate) for so long.

I've been buying Grendel pieces for years and have noticed that the slow down in restocking (historically) was more from the source than the local seller. There was a period where the existence of the line was in question because production almost came to a halt if memory serves me well.

My guess is that this is probably what's going on with Discount Hobby--they're just waiting on arrivals from Scotland. They've always delivered consistently when I've ordered through them and Johnny is really good about responding to inquiries if you send him an email directly.

I can understand about y'all's doubts myself, having watched Grendel over the years fade and then recharge over and over again.
I think Grendel is on at least its seventh owner now with Scotia.
I am not sure what the problem really is though; Grendel has a solid line of both fantasy and sci-fi terrain and an enduring winner of a sci-fi game in Kryomek.
I am not a fan of their fantasy game Leviathan, but then I have never been a fantasy-focused gamer.

Oh well, maybe an American firm will buy Grendel from Scotia and bring the company completely over the "Pond".
Maybe SimTac in CT will do so to gain the right to all of Grendel's treasures; they already do most, if not all, of Grendel's Kryomek stuff.

SimTac seems pretty dead, or at least not producing much of anything right now. They have an association (it seems a bit muddeled to me and didn't really get into the history) with the Store i Game at/buy from, my FLGS in Manchester CT. AS best i can tell there was some cross over between the personal of both palces. And it doesn't look like SimTac is doing much, i could be wrong, i didn't delve very deep into the matter but when i was looking for the kryomeck interiors that i ended up buying from Spirit there didn't seem to be much happening with SimTac, and all of the products that they made in the past that were still in the store were really discounted, while i think it is still a company, i don't think they are doing much.

RF--they've really hung in there, haven't they?

There was a rash of knock-offs on eBay from a seller in Ohio a year or two ago. Not sure if he's still re-casting them or not but after I bought one, I contacted Grendel about the scheme. Don't know what if anything happened but I'd rather support the source than save a few pennies and line the pockets of a con artist trying to pass off "new in box" Grendel resin pieces.

Speaking of Grendel, does anyone out there have their dungeon doors set? If so, are they double-sided, or one-sided? I was a little disappointed in a few of their pieces when I found they didn't have a backside (insert joke here.) Also, how well do they fit in with DF setups?

I would not hold my breath about them being doublesided YC; most of the Grendel SF doors I have seen around are not.
More's the pity too since they are gorgeous on the one side (e.g. the cargo door); just wish they were on both sides.

Dante, I hate pirates too, but I do not detest them to the level that GW's lawyers do.
They seriously sink their fangs into companies that play on the edges of GW's copyrights.

I've learned not to hold my breath about anything in the gaming industry, but yeah, the cargo door was a bit of an eye-opener for me. However, I have gotten a double-sided door that was made by them (I got it second-hand, so I can't be sure which set it was from,) but I don't want to commit to the dungeon doors set if they're all one-sided.
