There are actually some very, very good restaurants near the con, a bit pricey, but worth saving some cash for one night's splurge at least. I recommend PF Chang's (Chinese bistro)

It's also pretty kool to Invade the local bars. During those 4 days Indy is completely overun by our Geek Army and the local places have learned to adjust their menu's to Orc Burgers and such...

Stefan;

Is there a good sushi place close by, and do you and Mari like Sushi?
If you DO, Sandy & I have first call on treating you two, as our wedding gift to you.
Your option, and if not, no problem.
But I think you two deserve it and have earned a relaxed meal with two gamers who CAN actually discuss other subjects.

See ya!

Hi All,

This will be my first GEN CON. Always wanted to go. I have heard of problems with the pre-reg and hotel booking but I had no problem with either one.

Careful Dude...it's not the meal that will run you up, but the SAKE!!!

Ha, ha, ha...seriously, thank you for the invitation, we had a nice meal nearby with Peter and his Wife last year even though it wasn't really authentic (according to Mari--she's such a sushi snob!)
My schedule is pretty tight during the con but we shall see...perhaps we can get all the forum show ups together one night and go out as a group, at least for a drink?

Please tell me you're a Mets fan. :)

On the subject of Gen Con... If I'm able to make it, I think it'd be great to get together with some of the forum members for at least a drink.

Hi All -

I am also considering Gen Con this year ... it would be my first time. I've heard about it for years and years but never had an opportunity to go. Well, getting back into gaming and hearing all the great things about it, I think it's a MUST this year.

And I've GOTTA take part in True Dungeon !! That sounds fantasatic. Are costumes required (or provided)?

Stefan, a Forum Happy Hour is a great idea !! Especially since the limited time won't allow each and every one of us to buy you the drinks we'd like (you wouldn't remember the rest of the Con). Lots of toasts, cheers and best wishes for you and Mari not to mention the hazzahs for creating such awesome environments and giving us endless hours of fun !!!

Stefan,

In light of the realization, having read the rest of this thread, that any attempt on my part to steal you & Mari away from the rest of the forum gang will result in my incarceration IN the True Dungeon, for the duration ofthe convention, I think we'll go with the DF Happy . . . Weekend, considering how many of us there are!
Well, it won't really take that long, but I suspect it's a guarantee of a happy weekend in Indy for all of us!

I think I'm going to start a new thread, in NON-Gaming Talk, later this month, where we can plot and plan this one out. Sound like a good idea?

See ya!

Yeah, I'm excited about the WBC as well, and even though I'm rooting for the USA, I have a feeling that the Dominican Republic is going to be VERY tough to beat. Either way, I think it's going to be a great event. Hopefully more countries will get involved next time around, turning it into an event of World Cup prestige.

So far there has only been "Badge" pre-registration. And it went smoother this year because they delayed sending out the hotel code for two days too keep "everyone" from trying to register at the same time on Monday. Event registration in May will be the major test to see if they've improved the server and system. It was majorlly overloaded last year.

And I've GOTTA take part in True Dungeon !! That sounds fantasatic. Are costumes required (or provided)?
Costumes are welcome but not required or provided. For more info, check my post on the Gen Con forum, True Dungeon Player Resources. It has links to a player's guide, etc, and is a good place to ask TD questions.
